Escudo in the early morning. Wow was it good! I didn't appreciate it when I started the pipe, but lately it's my favorite smoke. I think I'm at the point where I can place a big order for it. Problem is, already promised my wife no tobacco for a long while... how can I convince her I need 10 tins?

How many tins do you guys have of those favorite blends?

I'm aiming to ultimately have two pounds of each of my go-to blends cellared away...I'm no where near that target at this point, but I'll get there in two years' time or so (quicker if I focus tobacco purchases on only those blends, but there are SO many I still want to try).

At that point, I'll try to maintain that level by purchasing enough to replace what I smoke - that way, if the paycheck takes a hit, taxes on pipe tobacco blow sky high, or purchasing becomes so restricted that it's a bother I'll have 10 pounds of my favorites to fall back on.

Fortunately for me, my wife has given up on my really curbing my tobacco purchasing - we have a household budget that allows for us each to have some personal, discretionary money (after bills are paid, savings/retirement are contributed, etc), so she's come to accept that if that's how I treat myself, that's how I treat myself.

The most I have is Penzance. I have 3 2oz tins and 8oz bulk. Second would be escudo. I now have one open and two sealed. I smoked escudo fir the first time the other day and I really love it. I find it less peppery than dunhill dnr.

No Way, I got 5lbs.of the nasty stuff and I'm trying to smoke it as fast
as I can so none of my Brothers will have to deal with the horrible

I'll second that, Cart... any Escudo with 5+ years on it, probably really stinks by now!!! If you send it by the weekend I'll have a nice little Christmas present!

I just got some 2015 in my ss box from another forum. It does have a bit of ketchup

Hmmm...regarding the original question!!! I do have a few single tins/jars, mostly stuff that is no longer available. All else is in multiples of 2 thru 8. I don't have single "go to," Too many good ones to single out!!!! At the tender age of 68, I'm not buying any more to age; I'm just trying to smoke'em up before I kick the bucket!!!!! :lol: FTRPLT

Um...well...I don't really have that many tins of FVF (maybe 10?) but I have between 5-10 of the 250g boxes jarred. I probably have 5-10 tins each of Hall o the Wynd, Blackwoods Flake, and Westminster. At any given time. Closer to 5 tins of SG Navy (and a pound or so in jars). I have a couple of pounds of Penzance and a pound or so of Stonehaven for good measure.

I like to buy in bulk, so I often buy a 8-16oz of something and keep some in a smaller jar, the rest goes into pint size jars and into a closet.

I have enough that I don't need to buy any more, but not so much that I will actually stop buying more.

Wow. The amount of tobacco some of you guys have stored up amazes me...fills me with envy. I was feeling rich because I have a few unopened tins of Three Nuns. Pounds of Penzance...can't even fathom.

Damn, Dave! Wow... I get close to splurging like that, then I feel guilty.

For the most part, I just replace what I finish, and leave it at that. For a time I was in the habit of buying one more than I needed (finish a tin, buy two more). The stash of FVF is due mostly to the shortage. I smoke it too often to risk running out.

I spent a couple of years building up my stash by spending literally every dollar of my discretionary budget on tobacco. I mean every dollar--I went months at a time without buying any books, music, new clothes, etc. I did this because I fear that a mail-order tobacco ban is a matter of when, not if, and I don't have a decent B&M nearby (not to mention the fact that Florida has one of the highest pipe tobacco tax rates in the country).

The ol' spreadsheet tells me I have 125 tins of Escudo in the closet. It is the blend above all others that I would not want to live without in case of the Tobaccopocalypse. I also have large quantities of my GH favorites, F&T Cut Blended Plug, and PS Luxury Navy Flake. Doomsday prepping, pipe-smoker style.

Needless to say, I'm not buying in quantity anymore. 8)
