I can't thank you all enough...I didn't really want to write all of that, because I really don't like making a spectacle of my personal life. Then again, I stepped outside my "comfort zones" and asked for help (not something I do). I felt it important to give an update.
It's still sinking in, but I think I didn't give enough credit to the weight that this put on us, and now that it's significantly lessened, I can put energy toward the other life-monsters that need vanquishing. I truly hope it's a sign of things to come.
Speaking of complicated, one thing I'm thankful for--the nature of the work I do, dealing with county, state and federal land and mining regulations, it was almost a breeze to jump into health care paperwork, insurance companies, etc. I'm used to complex process, so I was tuned and primed for dealing with crap like that. You deal with the people who are involved with respect, you double and triple check paperwork, you keep organized records with checklist, and in constant contact. Frustration and anger get you nowhere fast, sometimes even works against any effort applied. Every situation being as different as it is, those ground-rules I use every day worked pretty well. I wish I had known ten years ago what I do now, when I broke my arm and didn't do it the right way. Oh well.
I hope I can now use my skills for getting ahead rather than catching up.
