Change of strategy. Got to thinking about having to re-type the WordPerfect doc when I'm all done and since I am inherently lazy and a bad typist I won't do it. Instead I'll just post as I go and maybe individual discussions will spontaneously happen. My final post will be my "puts and takes."

First to bat is Maduro Cut Cake in a Dunhill group 5 Dress straight billiard. This is absolutely righteous damned stuff. Pease, quit screwin around and get this to the market.

There was only about two bowls left to the original sample which I understand was a generous sample to begin with. All that remains are dust and crumbs befitting the next passee, Puff Daddy. He will share with his brother Tin Man,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,or else.

Babs was waiting on my lazy-boy upon my arival home from work. She is a fine looking lady. I changed from my work clothes and opened her up. As we were having steak for dinner I had planned on having a cigar afterwards but glanced at the G&H rope staring at me. I have had ropes before so I sliced off a couple of thin coins and rubbed them out onto a paper plate to air out. What a tasty smoke. Cigar-like yet not too much. Even though I had eaten a good meal, about 35 minutes and at around mid bowl(given it is a smallish castello 32) i tried to stand up and let out the dog. Big mistake, almost did not make it to the door. Can someone loan me a walker when I smoke this. If I try this rope again I will make sure I smoke it even slower.

Thanks all and have a good night.

Please post as you go. I think that's half the fun anyway. Looking forward to it.

I've already had my sample of the cut cake on the first pass. I plan on buying some as soon as it's available. You and :afro: knock yourselves out. :pipe: :pipe: :pipe:

How 'bout we kick the time spent with BaBs up to 8 days ? She's getting big and she don't like to be rushed.

TJ,

I did not sample the Maduro Cut Cake because as you said there wasn't much and cigar leaf weed has never appealed to me. I obviously didn't have any to replinish the sample bag either. Sorry!

Question is, does rusty get the dust or the crumbs?

Cigargod,

I find that the best way to enjoy the ropes is to cut a plug off and chew it. I know, I know, I am a redneck but trust me it is very tasty. I didn't mention it in my recap but that is what I did with the G&H Black Cherry and it was very good. Chewing is the method that ropes were originally designed to be enjoyed anyway. I got a good hour long chew out of the G&H Black Cherry rope!

Am having a problem with the Maduro Cut Cake. It's not the same as my previous sample. Seriously, it's because the box pass is here in the same room. I have moved it into another room and shut the door. REALLY! I will have to do that with each and every sample. Gonna be a busy six days for the Mrs. No sex for her,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,gotta stay focused. Sorry Hun.

That's what I did.

Go to the box, get the sample.
Load the pipe, leave the room.

Go into the man cave, back yard, spare room, whatever.
Focus on the sample.

Wife will have to wait, be supportive and understanding.
It's only a week out of her life. :bom:

JP. I dip skoal straight long-cut when I can't smoke a pipe or cigar. I tried chewing a few of the s&g ropes( #4, blk xx, and #4 wiskey) they all burned the heck out of my lips, does the g&h ropes have that same affect for you? But I still like the flavour of the ropes smoked just got a little caried away with my puffing.

Cigargod,

I have never experienced cheek bite when chewing the ropes! Course I have been chewing tobacco for 40 years.......

Next up, Stokkebye's Luxury Birdseye Flake. Smoked in an Ashton XXX Sovereign group 5 straight bill. I have wanted to try this for some time and appreciate the opportunity to do so now. This is a reasonably priced bulk. According to tr.com, what do they know?, this is a high quality vaper with a touch of unsweetened black cavendish. I could not detect the presence of perique. The cavendish is only slight but is apparent for brief moments in both taste and aroma. I have never been enamored with the Dutch blends put out by this blender or others. Bullseye is a quality blend of va's with just a hint of cav. It is a quality honest tobacco. I detected no toppings or flavorings. It indicated at times that it could get hot and I adjusted accordingly. The sample was much dryer than I typically smoke. I would easily consider it an all day smoke followed by an evening english/balkan. If I remember at my next order, I'll put up a pound. Good stuff.

:king:

Finished (Danished?) the Bullseye. It ended a little on the sweet side. The cavendish was more present, but not necessarily overwhelming. Just too much,,,,for me. It satisfied my sweet tooth for a while. Ever have that happen? Tin note is good, first match is promising, goes along fine,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you end saying "Ok" but "I'm done."

Moved on,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,actually just finished a bowl of McClelland Dominican Glory. Decidedly more cigarish than Maduro Cut Cake. VA's were not as sweet and balanced as MCC. A little salty. Cigar feel to tongue,,,,,,,,,,,,somewhat of a cigar nose. Not bad things by any means,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I really liked it and would like to have a tin going at the same time as MCC. I would have some just to satisfy that ocassional salty cigar thing. Would not cellar or age it. Would, and will, cellar MCC. MCC has down road potential whereas DG would probably not, FOR ME, change much with age. DG not as complex and interesting as MCC.

Wish I could be more eloquent,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you know,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,va's dancing daintily, perique coming center stage only to be hushed by the burley refrain,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,NAH!

:king: /capo

Next?

Dinner first. Then my Dunhill Shell group 6 straight billywonker. Will search the box for a latakia hit.

Does the former prevail or does the latter trump? I like the Bullseye and have lots on hand.

Back with my evening selection. Lancers Slices.

I know what to expect from this as I have smoked it before. Simply, a straight forward full on latakia. Monochromatic and very staisfying. I don't cellar this as I have many full strength lats already,,,,,,,,,,Penzance, Old Ironsides, Pirate Kake, Commonwealth, Odyssey, Night Cap,,,,,,,,,,,,,to name a few. Several GLP blends fill this bill with added complexity and interest. Nonetheless,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it's after dinner and I need latakia. Very nice indeed.

PECULIAR,,,,,,,,,,,,There is a very faint slight soapy aroma and taste. Almost indetectible but there. NOT in a scented, topped, cased manner,,,,,,,,,,,,more of an incense quality. Any chronic Lancer guys notice this? It may be a little contamination from the box but I don't think so. There are no scented Lakeland blends in the pass.

I paid JP 5 bucks to wave a chunk of Grousemoor plug over the box and chant, there may be a bit of residual taste

So, we're waiting for your opinions on Walnut and Rum & Maple :D I'm gonna smoke some, so you're gonna smoke some
