First Goussard!

Asked my friend Charl Goussard to reserve this one for me.







His description reads: With this one, I wanted to make a fairly "standard" type of pipe, with just a bit of a kick to it. So it ended up with a tiny bit of flare from shank unto the stem and the little bit of bling from the stemring.

It's not only the looks of his pipes which impressed me. The smoking qualities are out of this world! That's why I have 5 of them

Well, I suppose this post is almost unnecessary, but:

Got my Goussard on Friday and just smoked my 2nd bowl. First was Escudo, a first for me, and predictably delicious. Just had to smoke a second bowl on Davidoff Flake Medallions with which I am more familiar, as a control, as it were, before giving a verdict.

The pipe is fantastic! Smooth open draw, warm and comfortable in the hand with just enough heat transfer to provide some 'feedback', which I sometimes need as I tend to be a bit of a greedy smoker. I can't describe how easily it takes a cleaner without making inappropriate sexual references. Incidentally no cleaner needed mid-smoke, even with the escudo fresh out of the tin. Internal engineering is spot on. This man knows his stuff, and I'll put this pipe up against any Dunhill any day of the week!

10/10 to Charl and thanks to SpeedyPete for his encouragement to purchase a Goussard.

Very nice. I am a fan of lighter finishes myself, as opposed to an overly shiny pipe. I'm going to have to check this guy out when I get some time to look
