Bees are awesome. Hornets are jerks. Wasps generally just snub you because they're better than you.
Insects exclusively, sadly. 8) At least until I splice wings on a platypus.i.keenum":7nupp1b2 said:Hate flying stinging animals.
My thoughts exactly...Kyle Weiss":42i9cxil said:Bees are awesome. Hornets are jerks. Wasps generally just snub you because they're better than you.
Yes...yes they are... We're just repeating ourselves today, I guess.i.keenum":285vmz4f said:Insects are animals. Just hate being stung, not hate of the bug itself.
They do know why, changes in climate and availability of habitat and because they are declining, fruit and flower growers are encountering problems in production because of the decline of the "polinating" activity they perform. In some ways, they are our "canary in the mine" for us humans . They are part of the "circle" of lifeMisterE":ko0ehs5r said:I think bees are disappearing on their own, so you might not have to worry about it. There's been a marked decline in bee populations over the last few years. Nobody knows exactly why.
Colony collapse disorder
I was surprised to discover just ho dependent we are on them. The list of fruits and vegetables which they pollinate is mind boggling. Should they disappear we'd be in a world of hurt.monbla256":1yswdzhc said:They do know why, changes in climate and availability of habitat and because they are declining, fruit and flower growers are encountering problems in production because of the decline of the "polinating" activity they perform. Dude, we had a swarm of those once when I still lived in Tucson!! They were "moving hives" and decided our gas meter was the right spot. We called the FD and they came out fast. All they did was spray a bunch of foam in the cubicle and it was over quickly. When it was all clear I looked inside and the had already made a respectable honeycomb. From the time they started swarming til the arrival of the FD was about 2 hrs! Busy as bees. :shock:Kyle Weiss":xmtay6f2 said:Well, they won't disappear. We'll just get mean ol' African bees...
