Hello all,
I'm here in Calgary, Canada, the land of insanely expensive tobacco... Despite this, and following the law of Conservation of Vices, I started smoking pipes at the beginning of this year. This replaced another vice, as I gave up sugar etc.
So far, I mostly I prefer the more popular Dunhills: Standard Mixture Medium, Nightcap, Royal Yacht, MM965, and so on. However I also do enjoy the odd flake (Uni, JFG's BF, etc). The selection at my local tobacconists is somewhat limited. I started on the Dunhills on the advice of the tobacconist, and they agree with me. However, I'm open to pretty much anything, and I try as much as I can.
I have a modest pipe collection, including a couple of estate Petersons with an interesting ghost (lakeland or something? I'm not sure as I've never had a full-on lakeland tobacco, but it sure is flowery), a couple of new Petes, a couple of Mario Grandis that I got for a great price, and a couple of MM cobs that are great little pipes.
Anyhow, I'm always looking for good information, and it'd also be great to hear from another other Canadians / Albertans / Calgarians about anything local that might help!
Thanks!
