I am a pipe smoker on and off since 1974, After working and living in nine different countries finally parked in Bodrum, originally, I am from İstanbul. I am also blending my own tobacco for about a year starting from leaves. I finally reached to 3 favorite afternoon blends and 2 morning blends, but still learning. I am here to learn more especially in blending.

Welcome to the list. Where to you get your leaves?

I get them directly from the farmers 6-7 different orientals we have in Turkey and also virginia and burley.

That's awesome. I have a somewhat similar opportunity, but limited to dark fired, burley, and dark air cured. I bought some blending tobacco, and will add some of the local dark fired the next time I blend. I put a post on this site on making a compressed plug type of blend using an empty vegetable can, a couple of big washers and a big C clamp. It worked pretty good.

I started with a noodle press (I just use it to test blends), after a while needed to make more quantities so I started using 5x10 cm square aluminum profile 9cm high with g press. Finally I made a press with which I can press four batches at once. I got a hold to latakia producers and a couple of guys in our group are doing perique, I make my own cavendish so I have a very large range of developing possibilities. I don't like aromatic so I am not worried on that issue.
