Hey brothers,
I was just browsing the PAD section and came across several posts in which there was some confusion about my name. Needless to say, I'm not surprised. I chose my name in a way that only those who knew me a bit would know it's not really my name. For me, relationships with people are important. I want my pipe selling to be more than just sending briar out the door. I hope to be able to connect with people in at least some small meaningful way as often as I can. I wanted to name my pipes in a way that only those who knew me a bit would know why they were named the way they were.
Seeing how I feel like I know you guys, at least a bit, and have hopefully interacted with most of you in some small meaningful way, it makes me want to come clean with the history of the name "Growley".
When I felt it was time to start making pipes seriously, I knew that I'd need to come up with a good name. I wanted my pipes to be as associated with my name as they were disassociated with it, meaning I wanted my name to be there somewhere, so it would make sense to someone who knew the secret, but I didn't want it to take on a branding image like Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren. I didn't want the pipes to be about "me". I still don't
So, with my full name being Brian G. Rowley, I decided to do a hybrid name and go with Growley. It's a name that's a bit of a brand and a name.
So for what it's worth, whether you say you've got one of Rowley's pipes or a Growley, you'd be right!
I know this will only be interesting to some, so I apologize in advance for all of you who have read this far and wished you could get that two minutes back![Big grin :D :D](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
