Welcome to BoB, brother Vercer!!! I'm in the Volunteer State... opposite end from NC.
At 50 years old, I have been a cigarette smoker for a long, long time! And, I've decided to convert to a pipe. Knowing that you too were a cigarette smoker, my curiosity is aroused. If I may, how heavy of a cig smoker were you... how many a day? How are you dealing with the habitual craving to light up a cig??
I'm just curious. I still find myself lighting up a cigarette fairly often during the day. But, I'm smoking a lot less cancer sticks than I was when I started... thanks to my pipes!!
Speaking of pipes... if you want to try out a Peterson or any other quality pipe, check out Ebay's estate pipes. They can usually be had for a fraction of what the new ones go for. And, if it happens to be that you get one that you don't care for, you might have a decent chance of getting a good portion of your money back by selling it on Ebay!

Thanks Beebiz, I smoked cigarettes for almost 17 years. Honestly I don't miss them at all unless I'm somewhere that I can't smoke a pipe (my folks house for instance). Then I'll generally bum one off whoever is around.
I smoked around a pack to a pack (no drinking) to a pack and a half (if drinking) a day and no run about 4-5 bowls a day. Don't miss the nicotine at all and am already finding I breathe much easier. The little one much prefers the pipe smell over the cigs too!

My beast is a bit larger and older... it's almost 40 years old... and for the last 20 to 25 years has bounced around the 2 to 3 packs a day size!! Add to that the fact that I have addictive and teetotaler tendencies, and my beast will take a while to kill or convert!!! But, kill or convert it I will!!!
I've got no little ones at home. But, my wife certainly loves the smell of the pipes... and, loathes the stench of a cigarette!
