Greetings from a new pipe smoker. Yup, I'm a woman with a pipe. (Ooh, that sounds mildly threatening...no worries, I'm rather nice.) I grew up spending many evenings in my dad's cabin reading and enjoying the smell of his pipe, watching the smoke gather in the eves of the roof. I was even allowed to try a bowl myself now and again when I got older. It's been on my list of things I'd like to have a go at for ages, but there has always been something to keep me from getting on the briar band wagon. I've gone through some pretty big changes over the last year (see you later ex husband!) and figured now was a good time to pick up a new bad habit, I've been pretty thin on my vices lately.

I've been searching for a nice pipe community to get involved in, but being female in nature I've received the cold shoulder quite a bit. This forum was recommended to me and I thought I'd give it a go. I'm fun, friendly, and have a wicked sense of humor. I've had mostly male friends most of my life (less drama) and fit in with the guys quite well, while still maintaining my feminine wiles. I'm hoping to get to know you and pick up some pipe knowledge.

I have been bitten by PAD, and have acquired three pipes within three weeks. Thankfully (or not) my budget will not allow more anytime soon. So now I'm looking forward to working on building a nice cake and working towards that elusive perfect bowl. (damn new smoker relights!)

Cheers mates.

Well we do have distaff members who try to keep things from deteriorating too far and maintain at least minimal hygiene. I fear they've had a tough go and could use your help.

Welcome.

Welcome! It's good to get some balance over here. If you're as feisty as you say you should get along perfectly with our other female members *cough, Scottie, cough*

What does that bring things to guys, 3 active female posters? I'm not counting Beetle since she went MIA. :(

Well I can't smell you over the internet, so it can't have devolved too badly. Thanks for the welcome. :)

Welcome to BoB. We are all relatively friendly and don't bite...much.

What kind of tobacco do you smoke?  Are you an aro lover or the dreaded English.

I'm originally from upstate NY, moved down here seven years ago.

I'll post my lovely J.M. Boswell briar soon, the other two are still awash in the USPS, due to arrive tomorrow. A rather ostentatious corn cob and a commissioned simple churchwarden.

Thanks for the welcome!

So far I am a lover of trying everything I can get my blessed hands on.

Welcome aboard, sister! I'm originally from Pennsyltucky myself, though a bit closer to State College. Couldn't wait to get out as a kid, but now I kinda miss it--the woods, anyway, if not the people!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I think I've finally found the right forum.
