A few weeks back my Radice hawksbill fell from the rack over my desk and tenon snapped in Mortise. This is one of my best smoking pipes. Anyone recommend a craftman who can repair this at a reasonable price. Already checked Norwood Repairs and he is booked thru end of the summer. Thanks in advance for help.

Pack it up and send it to Walker Briar works. They have done work for me for over 20 years now and when I need work done, I just pack up the pipe with a note to "fix it" and when it's done I get a "new" pipe back !! Be patient as nothing good is rushed, Here's a link to their site:

I'll second this. Walker has been my go-to repair destination and haven't been disappointed.

I understand Floyd Norwood also does great work but have never used him. Looks like he's booked solid as well!

Cheers.

Floyd Norwood, I don't know anyone that wants to wait several weeks for a repair to be done. Floyd been in the business before most of us even knew what a pipe was and he'll get done quick and probably cheaper. ;)

Did you call, or what? Can't see any indication of this on his site.

I find that pretty shocking. The last pipe I sent to Floyd came back in less than a week. And this was not particularly long ago.

Definitely send a nice pipe off for proper repair.

But if you've got a cheaper pipe and are on a budget, I've done this a few times for myself and friends:

I sent three pipes in need of new mouthpieces to Norwoods on March 23 and got them back on April 6, sporting the new bits and polished up like new. Norwoods also returned the old bits. Price was very reasonable, too, and conformed to the quoted repair prices on the Norwood's Pipe Repair site. I bought these pipes (a Mountbatten, a Jobey and a Bewlay) more than forty years ago and --for little cost -- they just seemed far better than anything that might replace them. They should be good for another forty years, though it's possible I may not be. I certainly give high marks to Norwoods.
