Can't help ya with figuring out her birthday, Ian, but she's a looker. Needs some TLC, but other than that, I believe you have a winner.

She looks real similar to my Pre-Republic model "80," but mine says "Made In Ireland" only. Best I could do was guess mid 1920s to mid 1940s based on available info.

Meanwhile, clean 'er up and get smoking! :D

Ian, here is Jim Tilleys link. He was one of the tops when it comes to Petes. http://thepetersoncollector.blogspot.com/2010/09/english-made-peterson-pipes-actually.html

Here's another source of info on Petes.
http://pipedia.org/index.php?title=Peterson

The "Made in England" in a block format is one of the earliest since Peterson was using the "Made in Ireland" block format at about the same time on their Irish production pipes.
Looks like you may have a good old Pete on your hands. Good on you!

That looks like a beauty. I don't know much about Pete stamping, hopefully someone else can add more info. That will shine up nicely! Those dent should also steam out as well.

You are gonna have a looker when she gets cleaned up; congrats on your purchase. Hoooo Weeeee!!!; would ya look at that cake, judging by the build up, she must be at the very least a century old.

Cake? What cake? I don't even see a bowl.

I found this on the "Peterson Blog Spot". Unfortunately the stamp "London & Dublin" giant mentioned.

English made Peterson pipes actually spans between the pre-Republic and Republic eras. In 1895, Peterson opened a shop in London England that lasted until the late 1950s or early 1960s. So the English Era, for a simplified date, will be from 1895 through 1959. The stamps Peterson used in London and that we have seen are:
Made inEngland - block format

Made in England - circle format

Made in London

Made in London England

Simply, London England

Great Britain

Though there are a couple of more, the above will give one the general idea. We believe the earliest stamp of this era was the "Made in England" in a block format since Peterson was using the "Made in Ireland" block format at about the same time on their Irish production pipes. The "Made in England" circle format was used during the same time frame as the "Made in Eire" and "Made in Ireland" circle formats.

His says "London Made..." Any clues? Font type? The "Special" encircled? *shrug*

I'm curious now. Sure, I could go over to the IPPC, or whatever...but it ain't my pipe.

Need to look more but moved last week and laptop is mia . Just smart phone for now. All the articles I have found have been a copy and paste of the one above.

Excellent. I'm lazy, your technology is missing, no better time than to pique the interest of those around here with more time on their hands.

Still couldn't find results for special. Was ankle to get that it's from somewhere from between 1930 and 1950 if my research is correct about the split tail p for peterson in block style.

That might be all ya get...about all I could get was a 20 year range for mine as well. I just know it was somewhere between '25 and '45. *shrug* Don't care, the thing smokes ace.

Have you cleaned it up and/or smoked it yet?

Still waiting to get it in. Should be here somewhere between tomorrow and monday.

Oh, it's still in the "anticipation phase." I figured those pictures were your doing. :D Hope it gets there soon.

Me too can't wait to see how that grain pops when buffed up a little. Like to keep older pipes with a matte finish so we'll see how she looks with a little elbow grease. Stem still looks in pretty good condition so I bet I can get that black and shiny though.

At work just checked the status and it's "out for delivery". Now I can't wait to get home :bounce: :bom:
