The Harp hands down....

As much of a Stanwell fanboy I am, I'd rather have the Harp.

I like the shaping of the Stanwell better, but the Harp is the prettier pipe. The silver really gives it some class. Costs and extra buck or two, but it would be worth it for a pretty pipe like that in my opinion.

Good quality tobacco can make all the difference as to whether you love your new hobby or drift on. When you consider how many hour-long bowls you can get out of an ounce or two of good tobacco, it's still a deal, often under a dollar for that hour or relaxation. Sometimes, well under a buck a bowl!

I vote for the Stanwell just because I prefer lucite bits. Just know that with Petes comes bit maintence. They turn green/brown over time from oxidation so they will need some attention periodically if you want them to stay nice and black.

I love Stanwells and Petes but I'd have to vote for the Pete. That's a nice one. I don't think you could go wrong with either of them.

O-H

If you buy the Stanwell, you'll second guess your decision,,,if you grab the Pete, same thing,,only one solution,,,you know what to do,,, :lol!: :lol!: :lol!: :lol!: :lol!:

The Stanwell was sold, was that you gonefishing? If so, good job. If not, hurry up and buy something already!

I went with the Peterson :D :D :D :D I liked the look a little better and the cool silver band 8) 8) I also bought these baccy's: 4- Escudo Navy Deluxe 50g, 2 -Golden Sliced 100g, 2-Cut Virginia Plug 50g, 1-Westminster 2oz, 1-Union Square 2oz, 1-Virginia Flake - 633 50g, 1-Key Largo 2oz, 1- Squadron Leader 50g. I hope I like them or else some of you will be getting some surprises :D :D Thanks guys for all the help!! :star: :star: :sunny:

Yo, Gone Fishing... Good job on just up and placing an order. One could go back and forth all day trying to decide between two pipes, especially when you can't see or hold them. Same with tobacco; it will take you some time to figure out what you like (which by the way, will probably change several times, if not more). You have to start SOMEWHERE, so, at some point, it almost doesn't matter where, just start. Which is what you have done! Best of luck on your journey -- may you enjoy the ride. Let us know your thoughts on your new Pete (most pipers agree -- you really can't go wrong with a Peterson) as well as your thoughts on the baccies you ordered. There is a HUGE difference between Golden Sliced and Westminster, as you are about to find out. Have fun and report back, mister!!

I will be sure to report my findings, kind sir  I am just so excited for these packages :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Of course, you now need to buy another pipe, right? First, one is never enough, and second, with pipes, they need time to rest in between smokes. Some of us on this forum own 20 or 30 pipes, some 60 or 70, and some, 100-200 or 300... right? In my pipe club, there is one guy that has his own pipe museum! But having several pipes is necessary, so they can properly "rest". Now begins a beautiful obsession. I have three Peterson's btw, and love them all, and am about to get my third Stanwell, and love the two I have. So much to learn! have fun...
