Hey Greyson....You're welcome....you should have let me know as I only live a few minutes walk away near Fistral.....Glad you enjoyed the place though, the guy there is open to suggestions...he got me a few tins of Pete's Sherlock Holmes in within a week.

Welcome! I too enjoy hunting the elusive fungi. In Michigan, USA though, so Morels are the game.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome....I do OK with morels here hidden among the sandy soil around the dunes but nothing on the scale of whatt you guys have....very envious.

Our morel season will start in the next three weeks or so (spring) and is very short lived but I have a dozen or so good places up my sleeve.

I posted a pic you may be interested in here

OOh, morels AND knives, RIGHT up my alley. Off to get a mushroom knife. Currently I use a soft round brush, meant for "detailing" a car, and it works well, but all in one sounds much more efficient.

Northern michigan morel hunting's been hit or miss the past decade. We've found some great spots now, but been too dry the last couple of years. Year before that was my best ever, with plentiful, including a monster as tall as my (huge) head!

Have a gander at this one by Marttiini from Fungi Perfecti

Being bright yellow it's ideal in case you put it down and "whoa...there it is"

My wife bought me Paul Stamets book "Mycelium Running"....it's fascinating.....highly recommended.

Hmm, looks like a checkout counter paring knife, TOO utilitarian. You did give me an idea though, I think I'll embed a tritium vial into the handle. Of course, then I'll have to wait until NIGHT to find it lol. Maybe a strip of dayglo paint too, and attach it to my belt with one of those reel-back devices?

I like the maserin one. Did find one on knifecenter.com that looks just like the maserin, but has a compass on a measuring stick. I'm thinking embed the compass in the handle also.

Will I DO all of this? questionable, but I get bored at work and plan tons of things that I'll never have time to do!
