It's no longer enough to show your V.A. Health Card or other official Veterans' I.D. You must have the Home Depot app on a smart phone and be verified via Sheer I.D. If you don't have a smart phone, and ultimately get helped into a Home Depot via wheelchair wearing your WWII ball cap, displaying your V.A. Health photo I.D. and a copy of your Honorable Discharge from service, you won't get the discount. What a bunch of idiots running that operation! Unf****ing believable.

According to a recent study by the Pew Research group, 58% of those age 65 and up do not have smartphones.

I'm very, VERY annoyed by this smart phone stuff...that it is required to get services or whatever. If you read about me setting up a new router, you found my frustration there. Forget that some don't have a phone, or are using a very old version of a phone to just get by, but what if you don't want to use the f'ing phone to set up new gear or get a discount or whatever?

I did an on-line Home Depot form to get the military discount associated with my card. Seems to be working so far when using my card in the store or on-line.

I assume the "my card" to which you are referring is a H.D. credit card.

Let's see if this works. I went to the Home Depot registration site and registered for an account. When I went to "military discount" It showed me a QR code which will activate my discount when I boot up the HD app and log in at HD. I used another smart phone to photograph the QR code, then texted the QR code to my email address. From my computer I sent the email with the QR code to my printer, where I printed it. Maybe it'll work.

Hmmm...I did have to register online with Lowe's. Now when I checkout, I just give the cashier my phone number for the discount. I'll have to check on this HD mess!! Thanks for the "Heads Up!" FTRPLT

A simple registration with phone number or show your V.A. I.D. should be sufficient.

Last time I went to HD, couple of weeks ago, I just showed them my drivers license which has my veteran status endorsed on it with no problems.???

If I remember correctly I received an e-mail verification on the military discount.

When I was in Home Depot on Monday, I was given the following hand out:
Attention Home Depot Shoppers:
Beginning 2/1/2022 The Home Depot will not be
able to accept returns without receipts. We will
still be able to look up purchases made on
credit/debit cards and any purchases made with
a ProXtra account. Thank you for your understanding.

Veteran Customers Find Military Registration
Visit Homedepot.com/military or open the Home Depot
mobile app. Customers can log in to an existing personal

The on-screen instructions to complete military verification.

Whomever wrote those instructions should be terminated ASAP.

I went to Home Depot today to buy $1.25 bag of small screws. For 12 cents, I wasn't going to drive to another store. I spoke with a fellow who is the lead cashier. I told him about the bad P.R. that Home Depot is getting about denying the Vet's discount with a smartphone and QR code. He said complaints have been plentiful and he and the cashiers were instructed to say that the new process is under examination at "corporate." He said that in the meantime cashiers have a hangtag to manually give the discount when shown a V.A. I.D. card.
He admitted that the problem ensued with building contractors making huge purchases and claiming and getting the veterans' discount with no proof of military service.
