Horrible Pipe [suggestions]

I have been trying to buy a new pipe with a 9mm filter. I have been smoking pipes for years and NEVER with a filter. So trying to save money I purchased a Peterson-phoenix-05-rusticated-fishtail 9mm from the Pipe Nook, $88, it has to be the worst pipe I have ever had. The briar has no weight to it, feels like balsa wood, smokes so hot I can hardly hold it no matter how slowly I smoke. The bowl is very thin., my fault for not being more careful before pulling the trigger.
That being said could anyone recommend a thick bowel 9mm filtered briar pipe in a low price range.

You could get a insert to replacement of the 9mm filter to draw easier. Also get to build some cake to help to "insulation" from heat. Drier tobacco may help to reduce the heat too. Good luck!

I believe Molina pipes take 9mm filters and are nicely priced. I have couple and they both seem to smoke very good. It's unfortunate you are problems with your peterson, I have mostly Petersons and love them all.

9mm pipes? Stanwell, Vauen, Savinelli, Rattrays, Ser Jacopo, Nording, Eric Stokkebye, Chacom…to name a few.

I have a Stanwell Brushed Black pot that has a 9mm filter stem. I've never used a filter in it but it smokes fine and it was cheap. I think $40 from P&C.

I believe Molina pipes take 9mm filters and are nicely priced. I have couple and they both seem to smoke very good. It's unfortunate you are problems with your peterson, I have mostly Petersons and love them all.

I have several Petes and like them all, however, I did order a Jeckel and Hyde last year from Iwin Reiss and it was awful. Smoked so hot after 5 minutes I couldn't even hold onto it. Sent it back to them and they gave me store credit. Bought a Vauen and an Aldo Velani for the same price plus a tin of tobacco. 2 for the price of 1 so I came out ahead.

smokingpipeseu probably has the best selection of 9mm filtered pipes. They are much more popular over there. Pipesandcigars has the 200 count boxes of Stanwell 9mm filters on sale right now for $25. Suppose to have the best draw of all the charcoal filters.

I’m not a big fan of filters, but the 9mm is much,much,much, better than those 6mm filters! Like pistolero stated, smokingpipes eu has a better selection. Also, the dollar is currently stronger for a better exchange rate.

This is a Peterson phoenix, made for, and sold only by the pipenook, so maybe not their top quality Peterson.
I am a cheap old fart, never learning you get what you pay for. To bad a great looking pipe does NOT = a great smoking pipe.

I would second the suggestions concerning Vauen pipes. They have a wide price range and all the ones I have purchased through the years have all been good smokers.

I think a a lot of Savinellis are fitted for a balsa filter insert. I've been fond of the Savinellis I've had over the years. Good pipes.
