I've been an occasional pipe smoker for about 7-10 years. I have always been attracted to the aesthetics and artistry of hand carved pipes. Being recently retired, I have found that restoring estate pipes is a true joy. It speaks to my love of wood working and quality design. I will readily admit that there is a lifetime of lessons to learn about pipe restoration, but I'm an eager student.

Hey Aussiemike, I have looked at Steve's website and you are correct. He has some very no-nonsense approaches to pipe restoration. He also has a tremendous ability to describe a restoration process with a plethora of photos to walk you through the process of restoration.

I just had to say that I really appreciate your profile pic. "Young Frankenstein" is one of my all time favorites. Peter Boyle as "the monster" was tremendous. Regarding your invitation, I would love to pull up a chair and converse for a while about all pipe topics. I'm sure I could learn a wealth of information from a man of pipe experience.

@BearHntr1961, although I'd be happy to pass on anything I may have learned, I am way down the list of knowledgeable pipe smokers in this forum. That's not false modesty on my part. I've been involved in this hobby for a little under one year. Fortunately, there are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks here, and all you haved to do is ask.
