Hmm.

No. No chocolate. Maybe a faint, faint roasted coffee (and I do mean faint), but predominantly other flavors.

If I sense anything, I'll come back and say something.

Just got myself a tin on a whim, Friday. With open jars in the double digits, it was hard to 1. buy more (yeah....real hard...) and 2. open another tin. But boy, am I glad I did.

Whittling the tobaks now, it seems...this is one to buy often and save...sweet smoke, indeed.

notice the fairly heavy chocolate topping?? I like it myself. Between ABF and the Wessex burley slice (molasses flavoring) I could be set forever on burley. Stormfront is too different to fit into the "burley" category for me... SF is its own thing.

I first tried ABF last November compliments of Steve monjour! I bought all 3 tins that he had left. Then, I came across an estate sale of tins and bought two more tins of ABF from 2007(?) so I've got some aged ABF to try one of these days as well

Another note-worthy burley flake is Peretti's Sommerset slices
I noticed the chocolate sort of scent (not chocolate, per se, but what reminded me of powdered baker's cocoa).

Reading the reviews causes undue tension. Sort of like when I was a kid and we received the thick Sears toy catalog every year before Christmas.
  Great analogy! I certainly know the feeling.

Wow.

Ever walk through a sunny forest on a warm, dry day? The downed trees (and the living ones) all smell like something. It's kind of a toasty, dusty smell, almost herbaceous, but in a generic sense. You can smell the tannins, resins and acetyl compounds being baked out of the surfaces. Freshly-cut pine or other wood during projects and home building has a similar smell. Yeah, like a lumberyard. It's almost something one can taste. Invigorating, pleasant, and warm. Forests are productive, so are lumber yards. Stuff is always happening.

That was the taste/smell/sensation I got today from the 656 ABF today. It was really nice. The smell (and even taste) instantly transported me to someplace not in Reno, in a cool Sierra Nevada forest, where I really wish I was right now considering all the stress. I could use a good hike. Well, this is the next best thing, for sure.

I'm finding I'm liking this, as well as my other nice flakes, scissored into cubes. Seems like I get the best of the flake (density) with the best of a rub (burn characteristics). Me likey.... :afro:
