Do you mean the Syrian stuff? Seriously, if you can find a way, get it. I've tried to source it and have not had the greatest success. I have tried it and it's a bit different than Cyprian. Other than that, Cyprian is about all you will find floating to the top these days. I have noticed, though, the differences between houses. That is to say folks like C&D, McClelland, Rattray, the Gawiths, Mac Baren, etc.

I guess it might even matter where in the world it was grown, processed, stored for how long, blah blah blah blah.......................

Hope this helps.

https://www.smokingpipes.com/tobacco/by-maker/mcconnell/moreinfo.cfm?product_id=3403  the description says Cyprian but it's actually Syrian, probably pre-1997 or so.  I believe that was the last year Syrian was available on the open market.
I'd call Smoking Pipes to verify this (perhaps you have, Eric), K&K recently ran out of Syrian leaf. I used to smoke Solani Gold Blend and new production is definitely blended with Cyprian.

Here's a thread from someone on another forum that bought some recently.

well alright then. Pure Syrian is probably going to be impossible to get for the foreseeable future. I doubt Syria will be stabilized any time soon.

You would have to find a tin of McConnell since they're it for syrian on the consumer market. The rest is warehoused for Mac Baren and Mcclelland. Don't think they'll be giving any of that up.

There's this too.

Perhaps you could contact a guy named Pipestud. I think he dabbles in vintage and/or out of production stuff, maybe he could hook you up?

McLintock Syrian Latakia shows as available on the first 3 uk sites I tried, guide price - $17 for 50g at gqtobaccos.com
So I guess it's still out there :)

I would just stock up on some 3 Oaks or Vintage Syrian and relax and enjoy. But that's just me. It's cool to have stuff to blend with but trying to find pure Syrian leaf at this point is tough to do. 10-15 years ago, no problemo.

Yup and yup, and I might add Ashton's Artisan Blend. Mac Baren's Vintage Syrian though is my favorite of the three...

My question is can latakia be produced that is closer to Syrian outside of Syria?
