Not knowing what to contribute, I'll say I like those pipe rests quite a bit, though. 8)

Awesome, I am still a couple months from getting to see the pipe in person to see if there is more writing on it, but will let you know as soon as I see it. I am on cupojoes.com right now getting a couple of adapters. The 9mm (which looks to be Dunhill's standard size) are only 2.45 each so I am grabbing a couple.

Agreed. And a creative use of the flat-top stove for photographic effect. That dunnie is sharp, too.

Lol those are the pics off of eBay, we use gas and gas alone in my house (great for indoor smores).

I have a few of those adapters. While they sort of work, the trouble they create holding on to moisture might be a bit much. They make a mess, and I highly suggest against inserting them and forgetting about them as if they aren't there.

These days I just smoke the 9mm filter pipes with no filter and call it good. Hey, they don't gurgle! Actually, I quite like them.

Yeah that is what I ended up doing with my Dr. Grabow.....err I mean super expensive awesome pipe that only slightly resembles a Grabow lol. Okay so the Grabow was my first pipe and that is what I smoke without a filter. I don't get any gurgle out of it but I most definitely do with my Molina which has no filter. I will smoke the Dunhill without first to see how it goes and try it with also to see what works out best. Thanks for all the tips and info guys, I definitely am one to search the forums before I ask a question.

Good to have you around! I still have my first gifted Grabow. I don't smoke it, but it's pretty sentimental. 8) Good luck with the "filter blanks."

Thanks, it is good to be around. This forum is a wealth of knowledge (and quite a bit of comedy) to absorb.

I have a few Savanelli's that were meant to use the 9mm balsa filters and have never used them and have not had ANY problems with them. I would think you should not have any problem with your Dunhill as well smoking it without the filter. :p Enjoy it as the older Dunhills were made from some nice briar and do smoke well.

I really like the smaller pipes and acquired 1) an unsmoked Il Duca pot, 2) an unsmoked Il Duca apple and 3) an estated Becker apple.

All pipes cost about the same and smoke great.
The Il Duca pipes are probably the best value for your money.

p.s. the Il Duca pipes have chamfered tenons and the Becker pipe does not
