Went in for some urinary surgery last month and they found that my heart was beating VERY slowly and irregullary so have been wearing a heart monitor for the past mo 24/7 and the doc called me today and said I need to get a pacemaker put in if I want to go on living. So I'll be going into the hospital on Wednesday of this next week and I'll get wire up and become a 21st century kinda guy !! I have been feeling a bit tired more and more and just choked it up to being an old codger !! After this I will go in to get both knees replaced !! Getting older sucks !!

Tired, as in BORED? Look on the bright side; you could have been run over by a truck at 17.

Try to get an MRI compatible one!
Yes.

Monblablabla, hang in there buddy, being a cyborg isn't as bad as I'd thought.. Plus, If we could get a couple more cyborgs in the group we could form a sci-fi army and take over the world.

At least you won't have to deal with weekly (and eventually daily) recharging.  It's a pain in the ass.. Literally.

I have been wired for 6 years now. It was a piece of cake. You will do fine.

Crikey Michael.

Sounds like this one was out of the blue?

You don't seem overly concerned about it though so I'm guessing it isn't too big a deal in the medical world now.

Fingers crossed for Wednesday though mate. You'll be back to your 5 mile morning runs in no time.

Getting old may suck, but it beats second choice. Best of luck and prayers to you. :cyclops:

Thanks for all the words of encouragement guys. I'll let ya know how things go next week !! :D

I was reading up on them a little, I've got time so why not...

Did you know they have them now that the doc can monitor via your cell phone. That's wild.

Yep !! My mother got hers last year and we have a unit that we plug her phone into and send a report to the heart doctors in a 10 minute session every 3 months! The monitor I have been wearing this past month uses a Samsung I-Phone to send my readings 24/7!
