I purchased a IMCO triplex lighter not too long ago (Actually two). I have actually found that it's actually easier to use for a pipe than a Pipe Zippo. For Cigars, forget it, even adjusting the flame, it takes years for it to light a nice Tabacalera Perdomo. I really want to know if there are other types of lighters made by IMCO. Are there specific Pipe lighters? I know that it's the Austrian version of the zippo (trench lighter) but I would like more information, I'm unable to find much more on them. Really fun to use and show off though.

Oh lord. If I had money that'd be mine now! I love that thing! I'm attracted to older looking things as well. My girlfriend specifically (two and a half years older) ha ha! I too love their design! That's why I bought two, I shoulda bought one silver and one black though... I don't think things through.

If you like IMCO's you'd better snap them up. They're going out of business if it hasn't already happened.

I have one IMCO G77R. I'm not sure how long it'll last, but I can't find many more. I think there's one left at Tinder Box, I might have to grab it even if it's just for parts. G77Rs are the plastic, cheap workhorses of their line. It isn't my ideal lighter, but it's pretty damn close.

Is that the one with the pipe on the side? Little black butane lighter? I think I've seen those.

Opening the grave on this thread..

So I refilled my Imco Triplex to give it a shot. I've been using my Zippo pipe lighter but Kyle got me thinking about the Imco from another thread. Well, it's lasting about as long as my Zippo so no win there but!... what's is sweet about the Imco is being able to remove the actual wick/cotton housing after lighting the wick. This facilitates lighting a deep bowl easily. I'm still keeping my Zippo with ghetto gasket since it now lasts a good 1.5 weeks without refilling but will be pocketing the Imco too. So Zach, are you pulling the wick/cotton housing out or using the lighter like normal when lighting your pipes?

I love the IMCOs. I need to get more, as it's true: they're a defunct company, now. Unless someone buys the patents and makes them, we're screwed.

On my TriPlex/Junior models, I sometimes pop out the wick/fuel assembly to light into the deep recesses of the bowl. Usually I don't smoke pipes with super deep bowls, and it isn't a problem. But it's a great feature. I like the engineering of these things a lot.

Amen! A little flimsy, but works great. I wrote a review on the G77R a few weeks ago. You can see it Here

Pipes and Cigars still have them. And my local guy has 12 or so. If you need a spare shoot me a note and I'll grab you one.
