In Need Of A Cherry Blend

I tried Gawith & Hoggarth's Black Cherry Twist tonight and it is definitely NOT FOR ME. Prepping the leaf for the bowl was interesting as this was my first "rope" tobacco but the smoke was just this side of horrible. The nicotine was strong, the flavor was moderate but totally lacking in the expected cherry.

I do like cherry tobacco and I love Altadis Maraschino but Black Cherry Twist will end up in some experimental blend that I need to "oomph up" with additional nicotine.

Oh goodness, thats quite a jump from an Altadis aromatic to a G&H rope.

My thoughts exactly. My experience with the rum twist was exactly what I expected, a touch of rum in an otherwise potent meaty blend.

If you're looking for something sweeter try PS Black Cherry. I like to mix it with Altadis Chocolate Mousse for a blend I like to call Chocolate Covered Cherry. Mmmm... Tasty!

Only the very best will do IMHO....

Ha that is exactly what I started pipe smoking with, a Grabow and 2 bags of that. I ended up mixing it with some McCranies honey and with some McCranies Apple and with the mixture it wasn't too bad, but still was a wet smoke even when left out for a couple days before smoking.

As others have mentioned, Dutch Treat from Boswells is probably the best cherry on the market.

Maybe I am the odd one out. I have never smoked a cherry blend. It just doesn't sound right.

I assure you the jump form Maraschino to Cherry Twist was intentional but otherwise foolhardy. In many ways tobacco selection is like spicy food. Those of us who like spicy hot dishes always seem to want to try something hotter only to find that the meal was ruined by a burning tongue. I've learned my lesson.

Speaking with a well respected Tobacconist some time ago, I told him that I could not smoke a Cherry Blended tobacco, just could never find one that wasn't sickening to my palate. He recommended G&H Top Black Cherry, and realizing how fantastic their tobaccos are I did try it. Another blend that I cannot tolerate unfortunately. Fuggedaboudit !! :x I've given up on a cherry flavored tobacco, period.

PIPEWORKS AND WILKE CHERRY CAVENDISH
Ripe cherries, gathered at the height of the season are turned into a cavendish casing and tastefully blended with rich vanilla Cavendish, Red Virginia and a light Burley. A distinctive cherry flavor and aroma.

Same here. I appreciate the room note, but don't envision smoking a cherry blend.

Cherry flavored tobacco is probably a realm that I wouldn't jump into with out some major trepidation. If I did I would go with Gawith Hoggarth Top Black Cherry and I probably wouldn't venture any further than that.

Peter Stokkebye cherry and black cherry are readily available, pretty good, and inexpensive. I'm not an aromatic smoker, but smoke it once in a very great while as a wife-pleaser to cover up the room note of something potent I just smoked, like Billy Bud.
