Good evening everyone!

My name is Sasha, I am Stackle2's wife. While not a pipe smoker myself, I am trying to find an anniversary gift for him, so he recommended this forum. Hopefully I can get some good suggestions. Regardless, look forward to learning more about pipes, & meeting new people!

Hi Sasha, that's a pretty name. Welcome to the BoB forums!

Some of my favorite pipes are Peterson, Boswell, Savinelli, Ferndown, Moretti, Viprati, Neerup, and Jake Hackert. Most of these pipes can be found on ebay, as well as online tobacconists. You can google the individual names to check websites and prices.

Hope you hang around and maybe try smoking a pipe every now and then. Some women find they enjoy it too. 8)

Thank you both for the warm welcome, he was right when he told me that the folks were friendly here!

SimpleMan- I do remember him talking about morta & meerschaum quite a bit lately. He finally got a meerschaum, so now I think he's got his sights set on a morta next.

Here is what I have ordered him so far for his anniversary gift, I would appreciate it if you guys can tell me if I am going in the right direction with all of this, & maybe make further suggestions along the lines of what he likes from what he's said to you guys here on the forum.

:::Also, wanted to let everyone know that Stackle PROMISED that he would not look at this thread so he won't see any of what gifts I got him. So just wanted to put that out there :) :::
So, I got a free standing pipe storage cabinet that has an ashtray on top, & 4 cast iron pipe rests & a drawer underneath that has a capacity of about a square foot, & also a small internal rack that holds 3 additional pipes. I just placed an order for the following tins: G.L. Pease Barbary Coast, Haddo's Delight, Cornell & Diehl after hours & Chocolate Cavendish & Burley Flake #2, Luxury Bullseye Flake, Broken Scottish Flake, Escudo Navy Deluxed, Peterson Special Reserve Limited Edition 2011<---REALLY hope he likes these last 2, I saw them on the top 10 best sellers!!!!) and who can go wrong with that?? Unfortunatly probably me.. lol. I also scouted the local antique stores & came up with a nice walnut pipe rack, a few missori meerschaum cob pipes, a very old army mount system Millard in excellent condition (but I didn't get this one because I wasn't sure about it), a Grabow Duke that is tiny, he said he wanted a flake pipe, so I think that should be good. I also managed picked up a nice rusticated kaywoodie that is unsmoked. I was really happy to get all the pipes for $5 bucks a piece, I am sure that several of them are worth a nice bit more than $5.

So far I am happy with this, I am a little worried that he might not like some of the stuff that I have ordered, I ordered a pipe off of amazon and all the reviews were REALLY good, like 4 1/2 out of 5, it's made from pearwood, on amazon its called "Pear Wood Hand Carved Tabacco Shopping Pipe DALI+pouch" the seller was Dmitro Geras (if ANYONE could give me some insight into that, that would be really apprieciated!! You should be able to look it up on amazon with that info) Although I went through his little cellar before I ordered & reordered some of what he is running low on, & since I know he really loves VaPers (don't know if I spelled that right, he talks about it alot though) & burley. I also know that he has gotten into refurbishing pipes, so I got him a new reamer too. I know his favorite pipes are petersons, but he has been talking about getting a pipe from Tapien and someone called the sashquatch as well.

Right now I want to get him a set of nice jars or storage canisters to put his larger amounts of tobacco in. I got one jar, a 62 oz self sealing jar just like the ones that are used at the local pipe shops. I don't know if any of you can suggest a set of jars or something that will function perfectly for him, while also being nice enough to display in my house. He is proud of his pipes and I'm proud of him, & I would like for him to be able to show them off in a curio. I am also not sure if there is a major difference in tabacco jars and regular jars, because I know that humitidy is a no-no, and so are other things...wow I really don't know much lol.

Well, thank you again for your help, hopefully I've provided enough information for you guys to help me out!

Sasha, I'm not sure to welcome you or send my condolences for having you join the forum. We're a unique bunch, for certain.

In that case, I'll just say "welcome" and let you decide for yourself: WELCOME!

So, interested in pipes by Wayne Teipen or one of Mr. Bannard's, eh?

You'll make his day if you help him get one, I'm sure... *hint hint* :p Both pipe makers are fellow Brothers here on the forum, both swell guys, and it'll be a one-of-a-kind, hand-made pipe that Stack will probably be able to hand down to his grandkids...

...as far as pipe tobacco? Heck, at this stage in the game, see if you can put together a sampler pack for him:

...that way, you can give him a whole spread of stuff to try. 8)

Very true. I'm certain he will be overwhelmed with all of those great blends you ordered. Just that fact that you know he's into VApers is pretty damn cool 8) And the pipe rack cabinet sounds great. He is going to be one happy piper

Also, welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum. He is truly a blessed man to have a mate like you. What a generous gift selection

I love a gal who does some research!

Chris Askwith makes some fine morta pipes, one available here:
http://www.askwithpipes.com/store.html

The best jars I've come across came from Micheals. About $5-$8 on sale. Three sizes, rubber seal ring and wide enough to get my mitt inside. The large one holds 6 oz

Good luck, keep us posted, he'll be thrilled!
