I've been searching for an oversize, push-stem Kaywoodie Atlas and found this last week on Ebay, sold by Don Warren pipes. It is a WWII era Kaywoodie and my first push-stem. Don did a great job on the restoration, it is one the few "restored" pipes that I haven't felt compelled to tune-up. I'm real impressed with the stem work on this pipe. I smoke some MM965 in it this evening and it smokes as well as my similar era Comoys, etc.

Al that is an incredible find! I love seeing the really old soldiers being put back together and into someone's rotation! Hope she provides you with years of great smokes!

Old soldiers,indeed.

Beautiful specimens.

Looks like a great smoker, enjoy her, Al.

That's a nice pipe.  I just dumped this one on eBay, not because it wasn't a great pipe, but because I apparently am not man enough for such a wide, squat bowl.  I found it awkward and a bit of an oddball next to my billiards, so cut it loose--knowing damn well it was a collector item.  Proof that I am a pipe smoker, not a collector.

Richard: is that currently listed? I don't recall it.

I have this 1930's 5183B, a similar shape. Is that a four-digit shape?

There was no shape number.  I know it had Handmade on the side, and Imported Briar.  I don't think there was even a Kaywoodie on it, other than the stem logo.  It was a plain push tenon, no filter thing of any type.  I suppose I should have kept it, but it just seemed so awkward.  The photo above doesn't begin to show how large around the bowl was; it was like a saucer or something.

Sorry, but the pipe was sold on eBay about six months ago.  Perhaps I should have chosen a better venue for the sale--like here, for instance.  Ah, well...

The below the belt rustication reminds me of a Custombilt. A classic -- enjoy, Al -- and thanks for sharing!

That looks like a dandy smoker! Enjoy!
I've been smoking it and a brand new Rad Davis. So far, the Kaywoodie wins hands-down.

You have another fine looking and as atested smoking pipe.
Congrat's, John.
