As many of you know, I collect a very specific type of Kaywoodie, the Regent series. It was made between 1963 and 1972. The series features a cumberland stem and to my knowledge was the only Kaywoodie line to carry the cumberland stems. If you come across any, please let me know! I am trying to collect the entire line of shapes, although I don't know how many shapes they made LOL. Well, here are the goods:

Kate, I have a number of Kaywoodie pipes, some I'm the original owner. Your collection of the Regent Series all look like beauties and with the Cumberland stems it makes the color and the grains in the briar pop. Hope you smoke them once in a while.

KEEP ON PUFFING!!!

Actually, it's funny. The only one I have smoked is the original I bought and patched a hole in. The #10, fourth picture down. But even then I haven't smoked it in a good year. Maybe longer. If you find any Regents in your collection that you could stand to part with, I would love to add new shapes to the collection!

As one who favors traditional shapes above all others, that's a gorgeous collection!
It was definitely an era where traditional shapes reigned. I hadn't really thought about that :)

I also like traditionals and traditionals with an artisanal touch, but not too heavily designy. I can see why a carver might find it tiresome to carve his / her 1,000th straight billiard, but to the smoker a well-wrought billiard can be a perfectly enjoyable combo of form and function.

That's a handsome set of Kaywoodies, by the way. Good luck completing your collection. I was once in a local antique shop and found a matched set of four Kaywoodies in their original case. Tag said $100.  They needed some maintenance, mostly elbow grease. My missus declared that the (many, many) pipes I already owned were way better than those shabby things, reminded me that our purpose was to bring home classy furniture for the nursery, and revisited her firm opinions on indoor smoking and infant health. Clearly, new fathers are not meant to win such debates.

Amazing collection Kaitlyn! Thank you for sharing it with us. Normally I would make a comment about being jealous about now. But in this case you have assembled such a beautiful collection I am actually extreamly happy to see it in such loving hands. I hope you can fill it out to be as complete as possible.  And I wish you happy hunting while asking for periodic up dates and photos when you find the purfect case to showcase them in. Thank you once more.

That 01 is screaming my name...

Also, how many standard shapes are there for Kaywoodie during that time? That'll give you an indication of what how many there are in the series.

Funny enough, that is the first Zulu I have owned. And I can tell you that I was definitely not the only one who REALLY wanted it for their collection!

Also, I found this shape chart for Kaywoodie '68-'69. Which leads me to ask: Would the Kaywoodie Regent stand alone as a consistent line maintaining the same shapes throughout it's existence? Or would the line change with the rest of Kaywoodie's line-ups over the years?

If this shape chart is anything to go on alone, there's 54 shapes... I only have 14!

Oh, and they call the Zulu a Yacht. I always just thought Zulu was the correct name. But heck, what do I know?! LOL.

There is a NEW old stock Kaywoodie Regent Series Zulu ( Yacht ) pipe for sale on eBay now. Take a look when you have time....especially JOSH.

I saw that one! Over $100 is ridiculous though so I just ignore those ones. Way too much for me! LOL.

I was thinking about this. Actually what cost $15.00 in 1968 would cost $105.14 in 2016, according to an inflation calculator I use. So technically it's quite reasonable. Just sayin', etc.

Oh--I forgot to say "nice pipes," Kate. ;)   Monomania in collecting really looks cool, for some reason. I once saw a guy's collection of nothing but bulldogs, and it was friggin' awesome. Arf! Arf!

True but most of the ones I get are between $30-$60. Inflation rises faster than some collectors desire, haha.

Kaitlyn,

Maybe you should PM KWGuy.
He is the owner of S.M. Frank / Kaywoodie, Bill Feuerbach!!!

If that doesn't work, try this: http://www.smfrankcoinc.com/home/?page_id=28

I could always ask him a question when I see him. We are both in the "Hudson Valley Pipe Club"............ ;)
I went ahead and used the link to send him a message. Let's hope to hear something soon. Thank you for the contact info!

Kate, I have no doubt you will hear back from Bill. He helped me out a while back with an extremely rare Yello-Bole black rusticated Lovat style Pug pipe, which was new and never smoked. Only 50 were made originally, still have not smoked it yet....it's way to pretty... :lol!:

KEEP ON PUFFING!!!

Here's one for you Kaitlyn, sorry for the late notice but I just came across this now, currently at $26 with 45mins left on the auction timer.  Appears to be a 09B, medium pear shape.

Kaywoodie Regent 09B on eBay

Edit:  If you get this message in time, and plan on bidding on it, please let me know here!  I may put a few bids in to see if I can secure this pipe for your collection, however I don't want to end up bidding against you.

Edit: I had planned to see if I could edge the win at the last minute, but with about 30 seconds left the pipe went from $26 to $56, higher than I was willing to bid anyhow. This one got away, but I'll keep my eyes open for any others

I have a Kaywoodie, made by Bill himself, as 2016 POY for Brotherhood of International Pipe Smokers. Only 20 of these pipes were made. I smoke mine almost every day, it is one marvellous, pretty, beautiful, excellent smoking pipe
