One wonders with the demise of Stanwell if Kaywoodie can step into the breech and produce a well designed affordable product. At one time Kaywoodie was considered America's finest machine made pipes. Due to very questionable management decisions Kaywoodie failed to keep pace with the American market. If Stanwell could keep up with the rest of the world, I don't see why Kaywoodie can't. Of course I neither make nor market pipes. I just smoke them.

There have been some very good quality Kaywoodie pipes coming out of S.M. Frank the last few years. The production is not very high but the handmade pipes by Bill Feuerbach are very nice.

Hi Troll,

I bought a sandblasted Kaywoodie recently and it smokes just great. I have to thin out the bit though, way to thick for my taste.
By the way, what do you mean with "the demise of Stanwell"?

I have 2 Kaywoodies..a 13b reissue and a tall handmade stack. Both are excellent smokers and part of my regular rotation. Would love to see Kaywoodie restored to its former glory. :)

Presently smoking a wonderful Kaywoodie Sandblast Poker that would rival any 1920's Dunhill. !!!!! How's that for going out on a limb. :D :D :D
Love them Kaywoodie's, a pipe with some history, great smoking qualities, and affordable to all.

I have about 20 KWs pre1970, and 3 of relatively recent development. THe old pieces are unqualifiably high quality and wellmade, if somewhat mundane. But, the newer pieces have a unique quality which make them worthy of collection.

Kaywoodie had a table at the Pipe Show and I spent some time examining
their higher grade pipes.I was impressed at the quality and the pricing of their
higher grades, very reasonable compared to many other makers.
