You can order Opinels in various woods. I haven't had a problem with them swelling, but I've never had one sitting in water or in wet pants etc. Knowing now that they do swell, it would be easy enough to treat the wood to at least delay that from happening.

I don't think they make Olive handled Opinel mushroom knives for the UK market.....I have seen them in a No.8....very nice too.

They use carbon steel in the standard knives but only stainless in the mushroom knives.....a shame really as the Opinel carbon steel is great stuff.
