Linkmans pipe question:

I have an old Dr Grabow I don't remember acquiring that puzzles me. It is marked Linkmans Deluxe on one side and 1541 on the other. The spade is on the top oqf the stem with the point toward the mouthpiece. But the spade is red. can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks. The pipe doesn't look that old, but by the model number and the spade it looks like it might date back to the 40s
