Traveld North this past weekend to visit my girlfriends family and stopped in JR Cigars which is near NY and picked up a 100gram tin. I had no intention of buying it but a couple of the tobacconist where raving about it. I guess its and aero which I normally don't smoke but after hearing and reading about it I had to buy it. Have not smoked it yet though.

Unless you're a new pipe smoker, you may just end up with a meh reaction. I wasn't thrilled.

+1 for Plumcake. The haters complain about nipping or worse, but my experience is it's a tasty smoke if you just sip slowly. (Setting aside the pipers who are just hard wired to be bitten.) Give it a little time to dry out a bit. Pack it a little on the loose side, Good luck.

Its different baccy kinda of hard to label it , but I am hard wired to be MacBit. Sucks because I really liked the flavor, still smoked half the tin even though it bit like the dickens. Tongue be damned

if you like this one try Germains plumcake, I like it a tad better

Everyone keeps misspelling the firms name - it's spelled MaCBITE  Sadly, I've not found a blend of theirs that doesn't :(

Smoking it now half way in. It's ok nothing great but enjoyable. I put in in a jar hoping the intense rum scent and or flavor will tone down a bit since it's overbearing right from the tin. I will revisit it after a little bit.

One of one of my favorite tobaccos. I just happen to get along with it. Even with my sensitive palate, it doesn't give me problems. Chemistry is a weird thing. Then again, smoking style might have something to do with it. I smoke slow--quite slow. This has come from an interest in higher-octane tobaccos, which kick you in the head if you puff like mad. Same goes for unruly tobacco, stuff that gets wild if not treated with kid gloves or a tender match. Jackknife can cut, Princess Embarcadero can whine, bitch and throw a fit, Squadron Leader can dogfight amongst tastebuds. I believe almost any tobacco blend, mix or ingredient can be overcome*, provided the flavor is agreeable.

Oh, and yes, Monbla, we all think your repeated "MacBite" jokes are witty; we're too stymied to make a proper response. That's what it is.

(* "Lakeland" not being a tobacco, is exempt from this assumption  )

Right out of the Tin it does bite but after a week in the jar and smoking in in several differnt pipes it's pretty tame.

Ain't it 'da truth! The only blend I enjoy of the MBs is HH Vintage Syrian and even that will nip me sometimes.

MacBaren Plumcake will always have a spot in my cellar. I'm lucky I guess in that the MacBaren blends don't bite me. The hint of latakia adds a delicious something extra to the blend (and I'm not a big fan of latakia) & all the MacB blends are of highest quality.

I love the taste of MacBarens Plumcake, but have learned to smoke this slowly, as it can give you a nasty bite.

Unfortunately, this was the first tobacco I ever smoked, back in the sixties. Put me off pipe smoking for years, burned my mouth to a crisp.

I must have sold my soul to the MacB Devil at some point. Funny, I've gotten a lot of younger smokers into MacB non-aros and they like it quite a bit. Very few complain about bite.

The mac b hh syrian and mature virginia don't bite me, I think it is a burly they use that gets me also some c&d blends give me the exact same kind of bite. Mcclelland blends are as smooth as can be to my tongue.
