I'm not quite sure where else to post this, but I'm fresh into tobacco pipes, and while I enjoy it very much, I am a larger dude with larger hands.

I'm really wanting an over sized/giant/magnum pipe. Something like ht.3in x 2in or 3in wide, bent stem, maybe even churchwarden.

I'm aware this is a very particular designs, but that's what I picture as my dream pipe.

Maybe some fancy partial sandblasting... Mmmm..

Anyways, where would I go about finding the wood for this and/or is there any of you fancy pipe carvers out there that would want to give this design a whirl? Money is tight now so there is no rush. I will bump this daily but I am in no rush for anything more than information.

Thanks ladies and germs.:afro:

[edit] I am a graphic designer, and I have a few designs I did on Adobe Illustrator. I will post them later when I get home.

If you're looking for larger pipes, the two makers that immediately come to mind are Boswell and Moretti. Check out Boswell's Grizzly pipes if you want something absolutely stupid huge.

Other than that the Italians tend to produce larger pipes: Radice, Cavicchi, ect. however it sounds like you have a very specific look in mind. That might only be an option as a commission from an artisan carver. Find one you like (use criteria such as their other pipes, prices, street cred, ect) and shoot em an email.

Awesome, that was very informative. And yes, I am looking for a GIANT pipe.

Check out Tadeusz Polinski's pipes on ebay (House of Pipes) he lists some Massive & XXL pipes that are great deals IMHO. I have 5 & love em. Also i've seen Sasquatch here at BOB has made some huge pipes as well.

Those Polinski's were almost extractly what I'm looking for! Thank you. For now so I have a clencher I'm buying a smaller Savinelli Hercules bent stem poker. About 2.3 in tall, 2 in around, sounds good to me

Peterson House pipe, Ardor Giant.
I've seen those. The peterson's are a little too expensive for my bank account, and I have no idea where to go about getting an Ardor.

The Ardor Giants are at least as expensive as the Petersons, unfortunately.

Ah well, I'm looking for a precut xl briar block now, have a few designs I wanna try so I'll probably just make my own.

You might contact Mark Tinsky at amsmoke.com . He not only carves excellent pipes but sells kits where the block is drilled and a stem is fitted, but the shaping is undone. Good prices, quality material and a stand up guy. He might be able to source you an XXL kit you can shape and finish yourself.

I've been here for less than 24 hours and you excellent gents have given me more information than I could find in a week. Thank you very much Puff Daddy and everyone else. I was hoping to find an XXL kit and now I have a lead.

Thanks again!

[edit] I have already contacted Mark via e-mail, impatiently waiting a response now! :bounce:

Here's a link to some Design Berlin Magnums. I have one and it smokes long and great. The are very reasonably priced. Shipping cost are a little steep. Hope this helps.

mastro baraldi (spelling?) makes great giant pipes that are a killer value. like under $300 for handmade Italian giantness. Marty Pulvers imports them. i don't know where they are sold, though. i could ask him. they are great. i got the chance to see about a dozen of them in person when he went to a pipe night in Morgan Hill.

Yeah I was thinking Boswell or Mario Grandi as well. Or you could have one made.

:lol!: I saw those, they are WAY too big. The smaller grizzly's are nice though, which is basically what I want. But because I would like an XXL poker churchwarden, I'm gonna just carve my own.

I'm still looking for giant size briar blocks, anyone know where to find them?
