Joke all ya want butthead, but you have and you do. It's mutual. Carry on.

Yeah. This place'll grow on ya. 8)

This place was my introduction to pipe forums. I've learned bunches, met really cool people (except for maybe Mark and of course that Harlock guy). I've definitely gotten a laugh or two out of the ups and downs over the few years I've been here. Checking in is part of my daily routine whether I post or not.

I'm glad it's here, because some days it is the highlight of my day! You guys rock!!

(Just kidding Mark and Chris- u guys rock too) :lol!: :lol!:

PB - I wasn't around here in the Knox days and didn't know about Cappo and his handle. If this still bothers you that much, and it appears that it does, just say the word. I'll go. No hard feelings.

This is a great board - 1 of only 2 forums I belong to (Bob Is The Oil Guy) and this is by far the best. Like others have said, you can't go back in time. I apologized to you in a PM after that mistake was made. Is this still eating at you? Since I wasn't around the Knox board, I couldn't have known about his handle - now could I...

Just let me know either way.

PB, are you with the blues?

I know what you mean. I used to lurk in the old Knox board. When it was gone, I saw people moving in here and I decided to join then. It is the only pipe forum I've ever joined.

Hell Rob did you take a stupid pill? You aren't allowed to leave.
That comment, and I didn't even remember who said it, got me looking at BoB, and thinking about Knox and even Stokers before Knox ( I wasn't a member but I heard Pops talk about them ).

Well, since i'm not allowed to leave I guess I'll have to stay and keep giving Kyle crap. Don't wanna get Dead Fish in the mail...
Sorry PB - it was an honest mistake, and won't happen again.

Nope no stupid pill, just get like that sometimes after a hell day of Retail BS.

My two shekels (and my hundredth post):

This is the only online forum that I actively participate in and for the simple reason that it is the only one I feel comfortable on. Sure, I have only been here for a few months, but I look forward to being here for a long time.

Others have said it too, this is a great place, populated by a great mix of guys and I have learned a lot and check in regularly.

See you all around the forum, you too PB, without your smoke veiled face this place would lose a certain air of the mysterious. 8)

write as elequente ( wish there was a spell check) as KYLE I would post more.
Kyle? Eloquent? Man, Kyle you sure have these guys fooled, but me! No siree! I know you probably have some English major at the local college doin' all yer' writin'!

Just razzin' ya man.

But PB, this has been my "Knox board" since I joined. I love this place and don't always have a lot to post, so I'll say it like this:

A fellowship of men
Brothers each akin
Through the kinship rite
Given by the leaf and pipe

You guys have got to stop this. After a day of fixing other folks crappy plumbing problems, I like to sit back and relax. Light my pipe, and get on line here and see what my buddies are doing, Yall quit crying in ya beer. This would jerk a tear out a glass eye. :suspect: Naw its all good to look back and see where thing came from and where things are going, I like it here, good folks, good info, good times. a place to get away some times

Unfortunately, you can click the topics & see the list of posts in each, but you can't access the posts themselves. If some internet genius could figure out how to do THAT (I'm beyond sure the government has it all stashed away somewhere), it would be awesome. (Except for the head case ********s who showed up at the very end and filled it full of their garbage). (Like, "What's the most you've ever paid for a pair of shoes ?")

One or maybe two guys saved their own stuff, as I recall, while it was still there.
What I did copy was lost several microSuck computer crashes ago (those things have the lifespans of insects).

How 'bout it, Huggie & PeeBee ? Any of you hacker buddies up for a little pro bono ? (Not that I'd ever encourage anybody to ever break the law or anything). There was some really choice stuff there.

:face:

You do see the humor in your last paragraph no?

Also a bit of an almost running gag type deal. Google. Knox Cigar Forum and this post is on the first page.

PB, the way you talk about the Knox board is kindof how I feel about this place. I'm getting to know you guys and develop these weird web relationships...lol this is something I'm not really used to..this being the only forum I belong to. Your original post almost made it seem like you were going the way of your old Knox forum mates....lol don't leave man, your assholish posts are something that I look forward to here. This place is so full of warmth and politeness that its good to have a little dose of the real world sometimes.

To get serious, I took up the pipe about 8 months ago after having quit cigarettes 9 years ago and smoking cigars for about...oh idk...5-6 years or so. To say the least, learning to really smoke a pipe well is a process that takes a long time...a process that I am still experiencing and enjoying. I can't imagine how much longer it would have taken me to get where I am in my pipe smoking "career" without the gracious people on this forum. Everyone is so forthcoming with their knowledge, willing to send you **** in the mail,...its really something you don't even experience that often in the material world...much less the virtual.

I love the pipe forums for obvious reasons, but I also love the rubber room...alot. Even though it gets heated sometimes its such a great place for the exchange of ideas and philosiphies. Hell even though we disagree about almost everything I even miss Yak in there since he hasn't been posting alot lately.

Lol this is so strange for me to admit to myself but I actually look forward to getting home and seeing what was posted here while I was away. Hopefully us new guys can help carry the torch for this place along with the the orignal forum members that still post here and keep it an awesome forum that everyone looks forward to frequenting.

Having been a part of a number of active forum communities that have either died out or changed beyond recognition, I absolutely see exactly where PB is coming from.it is a community, after all (at least to those who are active for any period of time, anyway) and to see it evolve so rapidly is a lot like watching your hometown change with the times. There's a lot of good that comes with that, but it ain't always easy to deal with...especially when it comes to losing track of (or actually losing) the friends you make along the way.

As a newbie to the group, I have to agree with George K:

For what it's worth from one on the new guys, the old guard did something right. This is an excellent forum, and I sense a sort of cultural momentum that carries on regardless of the presence of its founders.
I post less than I'd probably like, and am quite sure that I fly waaaaay below the radar here...still, even if it is different than what it once was, it's still one hell of a group to be a part of. This is the reason I plan to stick around (and also the reason I left the only other pipe forum I'd visited).

Nostalgia can be a real pain in the neck. But still...ya done good!

Wait, how did I miss another BoB love fest? Geez, I'm slackin'! :p

I'll echo what everyone else has already said, I ain't been here for long, but I generally check in every day, whether I post or not. I'm on a few other forums, but they don't compare to the BoB.

Y'know, this forum really taught me something interesting. I used to look at forum frequenters and scoff. An excuse for real interaction is what I thought it was. I was wrong.

When I come here, I feel like I'm walking into the lounge at the local tobacconist and all the guys are there. This is a group that I feel protective of, which is something that I thought I'd never say of a group of folks that I know mostly online. This is the only forum that really feels like home to me.
