Missing my Blackwood Flake

I really miss Blackwoods this time of year.  For years it was my favorite winter tobacco. I have a particular pipe that was dedicated to it. It hasn't been smoked since the blend went away.  I do have one can left but just can't bring myself to open it.  Foolish I know but difficult to do nonetheless.

I received a notice from Pipes and Cigars that McClelland tobaccos are back in stock so I excitedly clicked the link; but alas, no Blackwoods in the lineup.  What is it about Blackwoods that caused its demise?  Did it use a type of tobacco no longer available?

McClelland closed...I think that’s pretty much why Blackwoods isn’t around any longer.

Sadly McClelland is no longer in business, although knowing Pipes & Cigars they’re stilling taking back orders.

And JR’s will find a hoard of exquisitely aged tins on a pallet under an old tarp in the back of an abandoned warehouse down by the river.
