Out of curiosity, do you stick to one tobacco for an extended period of time (a week, month, or entire tin) or do you switch them up regularly. I have heard that some switch up types of tobaccos with the seasons (summer= burleys and Virginias, winter= latakias).

I noticed that I smoke something different every day but tem to prefer Virginias and burleys during the summer and Latakias in the colder weather.

What do you do?

Though I have one tobacco that prefer, I keep about 1/2 dozen jars of various tobaccos open. 99% of the time I choose my favorite, but when the mood strikes I dip into one of the others. This is done year round with no notice paid to the season.

I smoke 3 to 4 blends on a regular daily basis adding 1 or 2 occassionally to sort of branch-out and try something new. Back in the pre-'net days it was 1or 2 blends on a regular basis. Ignorance was bliss and things were much simpler :p

I am trying to finish some open tobaccos. The one in the pouch becomes the primary until it is gone. If I am bored with it, I will grab a bowl of something else already open.

This is the first time I have stuck with one for days straight. It was definitely a change when I went from a week of Frog Morton Across the Pond to a week of Half & Half. I had not realized the fullness of the Frog until I experienced the lack thereof.

I'm a tobacco tramp. I try all sorts of blends and have normally 3 or four tins open at once and a couple bags of bulk.

When it comes to tobacco I pretty much need a contant supply of Penicillin because I do a lot of bouncing around. This last week and a half alone I have smoked Virginia Woods, Aged Burley Flake, St. Bruno, G&H Brown Flake, Luxury Bulls Eye, Mac Baren Navy Flake, Peretti Scottish Flake, and Guilford Courthouse.

Yeah, for whatever reason I have been sowing my oats lately.

Union Square & Embarcadero. Every once in a while, Full Virginia Flake. = 100%

:face:

Just counted my open tobacco, and including my daily blend of Frog Morton OTT, I have access to 13 different blends.

I had a heap open that I've either smoked down or given away. Now I have one aro open (camping friendly!) and another aro a guy in a camp site near me gave to me after I gave him some of mine. I plan on opening another jar or two after I smoke one of the aros down. Incentive!

I'm comfortably a polynicotianist, I usually have one or two blends a day to switch things up, out of maybe five or six I have at the moment. Once in a while I'll dig into the "sample box" of stuff people have given me, either to re-confirm findings or flirting with a new 'bacca.

I am an old stick in the mud. Carter Hall almost all the time, with a little Middletons Cherry Blend every so often.

The same here.

Tobacco whore is the term I've seen bantered about around here from time to time. I seldom smoke the same tobacco twice in a row much less than twice in a day. When I'm smoking a just opened tin, or a blend I haven't had before (or smoked for many years), I may smoke a bowl a day of that particular tobacco for a few days to get a feel for it, but then I morph off to something different. Short attention span, I guess, or easily distracted?

Natch

Glad to see I'm not alone! I jar everything i buy and make sure I put some in a small 4oz mason jar for sampleing. That gives me access to close to 50 different blends without having to disturb what I have ageing. Now I don't smoke all fifty mind you. Some of those are aros that I may tap in to only twice a year.

When you find what works, stick with it. :D

CH is always one I return to.

Come to think of it, there was a reason why I chose the 4oz and 8oz jars for most tobacco... even if it's in a pound or more in bulk, the little jars mean you're not drying everything else out, and if you decide to shelf the stuff for some time, well, there they sit.

For that matter, the small tins also have this advantage.

"Tobacco whores" abound. Plus, it's easier to say than "polynicotianist."

Yeah, I practically had to sound that out, poly-nico-tian-ist. New words, new words.

Ok, I have to quote Kyle. Not just because he is accurate to my general way of being, but I love the term "polynicotianist".

Of course, I can not even keep to my own stable of concubintins, I have to sample the flavours offered by way of my friend's stable. :| 8)

I have a greater variety of baccys than the library of congress has books.

I usually have 2-4 in something of a rotation and 1-3 opened that I dip into when I feel like it, but none have stayed constant until this past summer -- when you start off with 750 grams I would think most would keep it in the rotation (Grasmere Flake in my case). However, I have scores of unopened to try, so the other spots will remain open!
