I have an interesting system (well, it keeps me interested to say the least).

I have my three favorite pipes that I have "assigned" to categories and a cob (my MM Country Gentleman) that is my "house pipe." I am currently smoking Through a tin of Balkan Sobraine in my Pete, IRC Slices (an AWESOME vapers from Iwan that is listed under their IRC flakes category) in my no name brandy that floats my boat, and My go to IRC VA flake in my smaller ben wade apple. I am about through with the Slices, so i will be transitioning to Blockade runner which i picked up a while back, and I bought an extra pack of the VA flake and threw it in a mason with the other half of the pouch that i was working through (IRC Bulks come in these neato mylar baggies. but masons for long term, of course) I am going to pop some union square to keep the VA vibe going. I dont smoke these in a strict rotation, nor do i smoke more than a few bowls a week, so plenty of drying time.

Now, the "house pipe" could be used to smoke any of these open blends, but last week i picked up a bulk called "Sweet Virginia" from a B&m that i was unaware of until recently.

Anyway, I am going to start a seperate thread to discuss this, so please excuse some copypasta and enjoy the rest of your previously scheduled program.

So my bouncing around is mostly based on a smaller pipe rotation, which keeps a fresh palate as well as keeps things compact (my open tobacco, all my pipes, lighters, tools and cleaners all fit into the small pouch on the outside of my work bag. Tobacco cellar is maintained in a plastic drawer in the hall closet, so everything is nicely compartmentalized and out of wifeys way)

I usually have 2-3 tins open and swap them out when finished to a different tin. Some tobacs are in heavy rotation and others stop by for a quicky.

At the moment I have a lot of things open in small mason jars. But I reach primarily for just a few of those.

I smoked primarily one tobacco for years.

I am in the process of narrowing it down to what I want to stockpile.

Generally a bowl of Epiphany, two of a burley (CH/H&H), then one of something else (aromatic, sample)..

Since tobacco promiscuity is perfectly legal, I don't know why someone wouldn't smoke around. In the first place, too much of even a good thing gets tiresome. Variety tends to keep the anticipation fresh. Remember the scene in Last Picture show when the girl said, "It's our first anniversary of going steady." "It is?" said her BF, "Seems longer." It's like that.

I guess I am a total whore, I have a rotation of 22 blends that I have open and enjoy at any given time. I smoke 4-5 bowls a day and love variety. Here is my current rotation, the TR next to the name means ready to smoke right out of the tin with no drying time required.

Promiscuous? I prefer 'experimenter' -- I've tried 60 different tobaccos so far this year. However, if I ever manage to work my way through the backlog of about 60 more, I figure I'll have about 15 I feel really happy with, with another 12-20 more I would like if one of the 'first string' isn't available.

Well, I thought I was getting settled in to about a half-dozen blends, 2-3 bulks and same number of tins.
It was getting pretty consistant, then I got bombed!

I had 3 tins open when the bombs hit, just finished one today, that I opened mid-October! I haven't smoked the same blend more than twice a week since the end of Oct.

Bad news is, my list of must have tobaccos keeps growing.
