beebiz, the Stokkebye Peaches and Cream is nice I have tried it before.

Tell you what, as I have been the recipient of a couple of care packages from the brotherhood, I think you need some tobacco.

So, I'll be getting some Peaches & Cream and something else sent your way this week sometime. I'd hate to think of you not having something tasty to put in the new CW.

Thanks for sharing the story about your grandfather. Reminded me of time spent with my grandpa, and of the responsibilities I have now that some little ones call me 'papa'.

God Bless,

Pete

Heeeehaaaaaaaahhhhhhhaaaaaaaa Pete

..........and for that man........ is why I hang around this board!!!! Pete you are a credit to the force bro!!!!!
Cool BEEBIZ, I think you are now sorted!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just brilliant, a new pipe and some baccy on it's way to you!!!!!!
Pete already has your postal addy........ again don't ask why and how!!!!!

A demonstration of the caliber of men that are part of this family!!!!!
It is near midnight here and I am now to wired to sleep! Really exciting stuff here!!!!
Love it!!!!!

Pete, you're da frikkin man bro!!!!!

You know... I bet my ISP is loving me!! My mailbox has been inundated with emails concerning messages and posts from BoB!! I LOVE it.

But, I've got some bad news, gentlemen. Earlier I said that a group of guys like the group of guys here at BoB was a once in a lifetime find. That statement was untrue! And, as such, I must retract it!! Finding a group like you guys is a once in 4 or 5 lifetimes!!!!! :D

Once again, I stand in awe of the kindness and generosity of you gentlemen! Pete, that is a very kind and generous thing for you to do too!! I await the arrival of your package with the same level of anticipation that I await the delivery of the package from my brothers in South Africa!!! ;)

I've told my wife of the kindness and generosity of my new brothers at Brothers of Briar. She has been almost as much awe as I have!! She's even wondering how much my dues were to join such a brotherhood. And, knowing my bank balance, she's wondering where I got the money!!! :lol!: :lol!:

I've explained to her that it has cost me nothing except my time and being kind to a group of guys that I couldn't imagine being anything but kind to! She's still skeptical at my explanation. So, she says, "If you say so... !!"

Once again, I thank you gentlemen from the depths of my heart!!!

Peter, I'm glad you enjoyed the story. As I said, it is true... or, as true as my feeble brain can recall!! And, you are soooo right about the little ones who now call us papa, g-paw, granddaddy, and so on.

But, the most intimidating thing to me is that not only am I influencing those whose little footprints now follow mine... but, I may well be influencing those whose will follow theirs... and, those whose will follow theirs... and so on!!! If you stop and think about it from that perspective, it's enough to scare the begeebers out of you!!!

I just hope and pray every day that I am now, and will remain a good and proper candidate for leadership of all those tiny footprints that may choose to follow mine!!!

In the above post, I did forget to mention what I have in the works. Loving to garden, and trying to keep my cigarette smoking habit expenses to a minimal, I did something this year that I'd never done before. I grew my own tobacco! When I planted the tobacco, I had no idea that it would be destined for a pipe! I thought it would be smoked in a cigarette!!! Shows that you just never know exactly what's around the corner... even if you have "plans!"

Anyway, I have some light burley... medium burley... dark burley... and some Oriental. Next year, I intend to have a fair amount of Virginia and Oriental.

I don't know how this tobacco will turn out. I've harvested some of it. But, I have got to ferment/age it before I can smoke it. Once that is done, providing it turns out to be a decent smoke, I'll gladly share some of it with you guys... if you would like. If you don't care to try any "homegrown," that's alright too... my feelings will not be hurt. I've just never done it before. And, I'm anxious to see what the end product is like!!

Just in case I've not already said so... thank you so much to you guys for your generosity and kindness!!!

BTW, Piet... I figure I already know the "why"... you stated it in your PM! Again, thank you for that!! And, I figure I've got a pretty good idea as to the "how" too! You, sir, are an instigator!!! But, you are the kind of instigator that I love... an instigator of good things!!!

Bless you Piet, Muddler, Pete, and everyone else here at Brothers of Briar!!!!!

Hey Rob, for one, I have a 4yr old son, and what you say is so true,
Secondly, I am no instigator, Pete is............. He asked me for you addy out of his own free will!!!! And for the record, Muddler said to pass the pipe down out of his own free will too!!!
That is just what we do here, we think collectively, and I am damn proud to be associated with you all!!!
Dang dudes, This is fantastic!!!! 8) 8)

Rob, seeing your excitement about the whole thing has made my year!!!!
Besides, weight wise, pipes are cheaper to post than stones!!!!!

Glad to know I could have such a positive affect on you, Piet!! I definitely am quite excited! I feel about like a kid who just found out that he's getting everything he wanted for Christmas!!

Okay, Piet... so, I mis-accused you! So, sue me!!!  You are still one of the good eggs in this carton!!!

And, if you smoke it quick enough, it will keep you much warmer on a cool winter's night too!!! :D

About the Dr Grabow. Use isopropyl alcohol and 0000 steel wool to remove the finish from the bowl. I never refinish after that. You will still have the same color and the oils from your hand will even help the patina. As far as the stem goes, use some kind of polishing product from your local auto parts store. The stem will take a little effort but don't worry about the teeth marks. It's used just make it shine and it smokes good so enjoy it.

Thank you very much for your input and information, uncleshakey! I will do as you have instructed me.

I have got some Johnson Paste Wax. Once I have removed the old finish, would it be alright to use it on the wood... to shine and protect it?

Thanks again!!

Robert

Wow! All I can say is that I am SUPER PROUD to have found and to be a part of BoB!

3 cheers for a super bunch of guys!

my wife was very dubious of this forum thing until she read your story beebiz. she had real tears. women!

also, your prince albert there at the local tobacco shop is actually decent stuff and pretty cheap to come by. yes, it may be a drug store tobacco, but you'll find a ton of guys on the forum who smoke it regularly and will defend it against any burley.

Rob, Beebiz,
Your pipe is in the mail. I sent it Registered airmail with tracking number!!
Check your PM box!!!

Very, very well said, BD!!!

Bruinis, I'm glad I could be instrumental in straightening your wife out!!

Yes, it is a very rare thing to find a woman who is afraid or ashamed to show her emotions... at the drop of a hat. Early on in life, many learn that those tears are golden when trying to melt daddy's heart in order to get their way! It works pretty darn good on husbands too!!! :D

We men tend to be more guarded and are usually not so quick or as good at openly showing our emotions... especially when it comes to crying. As little boys, many of us are taught that crying is a sign of weakness... girlish, if you will.

Fortunately, I had a daddy who taught me that crying is a fine, brave thing for a boy or man to do. He said that it is fine because it shows you have a heart. And, he said that it is brave because it shows that you are courageous enough to allow it to be touched, caressed, and/or broken! I believe my daddy to have been a very wise man!!!

I will have to give the Prince Albert a try! Years ago, I tried some whiskey and cherry flavored drug store tobaccos. And, I didn't care for them at all. I did like the Captain Black. But, after a while, it made my tongue feel as though it were growing a thick layer of fuzz on it!!

Your tobacco offer was very kind and generous! I thank you very much for it! And, I look very much forward to receiving it and trying it out! The "Mac Barens blend" sounds quite delicious!!!

By the way... been meaning to say this... but, keep forgetting it... It will be the first time in my life I had more than one "mistress" at a time! I will do my best to handle it! But, I may end up on a shrink's couch before it is over!!!! Pray for me to have strength, brother!!!!!

Piet, I got your PM. I thank you for the refurb job you did! I thank you for mailing my pipe so quickly!! I thank you for everything you have done!!! But, most of all... I thank you for being my brother and accepting me as your brother!!!!!!

I greatly appreciate the fact that you got tracking information so that we can keep track of the pipe while it is in transit... smart thinking! I will watch it like a child watching for Santa!!! I will make sure that I am here to sign for it... just in case! And, I will let you know as soon as it arrives!!!

But, I need some information from you. I know it might sound "dumb." But, I've never received a package via registered airmail from another country!! Can I track the pipe via The United States Post Office? If I need to use something else, please share with me a web address or something so I can keep track of Santa and his sleigh!!! :D

To all my brothers:

I would like to borrow two paragraphs from a PM that I wrote to bruins and post them here. I originally said these things to bruins. But, they are quite applicable here.

"I know I've said it several times before. And, I've almost run out of new ways to say it. But, it doesn't mean that I mean it any less! So, at the risk of sounding redundant, I will say to you that I am completely floored and amazed at the kindness and generosity of you, my new brothers!!! You are each one cream of the crop... best of the best... the shiniest, most valuable stone in the jewelery box!!!!

Again, I stand in awe of your generosity and everyone else's. I thank you, kind sir!! And, I am so very, very proud to be able to count myself among the Brothers of Briar!!!"

My hopes and prayers are that the blessings of Heaven pour into each of your cups until they are continually overflowing!!!!

Robert

Robert, I'll send you a tracking # as soon as 4noggins ships, but you have some goodies inbound.

4noggins Bald Headed Teacher (my favorite)
John Patton's Storm Front (another personal favorite)
Peter Stokkebye Black Truffle (very nice aromatic)
McClelland M55 GEORGIAN CREAM (they were out of PS Peaches & Cream, this is peachy and sounded tasty)

You'll have 2 ounces of each, so enough to figure out if you like them.

If you want to read up on these blends, you can check www.4noggins.com, and also www.tobaccoreviews.com

This should get you started with the Churchwarden out brothers across the pond sent, I hope you enjoy them.

Pete

ps - Smoker's Law #1, you'll have to post your thoughts on the gifted tobaccos in the review section 8)

Cool bro!

Gentlemen, please allow me to apologize for not replying sooner. About 15 minutes or so after I made my last post last night, our Poodle whose name is Cuddles began having babies! Between that time and around 7:00 AM this morning (Central Time in the US), she had 3 pups! My wife... my best friend in the world... and I were by her side... comforting and assisting her the entire time.

The 2 smaller pups (a boy and a girl) survived and are doing great. The other one (a boy) got wedged in the birth canal and took several hours to be born (don't know which one grunted and pushed more... me... my wife... or Cuddles :D ). He was stillborn. Though sad, it is just something that happens sometimes. And, Piet, I have no doubt that he and Laker are having a blast at Rainbow Bridge!!! :)

Brother Peter, for your most generous gift, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, kind sir!! I've gone to 4noggins' site and checked out the description of each of the tobaccos. They sound wonderful!!! I am especially anxious to give the McClelland M55 Georgian Cream a try! It does sound very, very tasty!!!

I've read some of the thoughts and descriptions given about tobaccos. And, I don't know that I have command of the proper verbiage to accurately express my thoughts about the tobaccos that you are gifting me. But, I promise that I will give it my best shot!!!

My brothers, please forgive me. But, after only around 3 hours sleep last night, this is one very tired, worn out old man!!! And, because of that, it may be that today I won't be around the board as much as I have been being. Again, please forgive me. But, I will try to check in a few times throughout the day. And, remember that although I may not be here posting, my thoughts will be with you, my brothers!!!

Have a wonderful, blessed day, brothers!!

Robert
