I piked up some Half and Half cause I read some where that it is a good blend to smoke in an estate pipe when you first get it to get rid of any ghosting, I actually thought it had a nice nutty flavor and I didnt get any bite from it. but I don't think I could smoke it everyday by the end of the bowl i am pretty bored with it

To me H&H is the leading example of a tobacco that is the equivalent of smoking very, very hot air -- no taste but plenty hot. I'd read some reviews that described it as nutty tasting, easy to pack, good for breaking in a pipe, cheap, etcetc. But it was kind of like smoking lawn clippings. I just couldn't find whatever it is that fans like about it.

The pipe smokers in my family, two uncles and a grandfather, all lawyers, smoked nothing but Half and Half, as I remember. For that reason, the scent is nostalgically evocative and to me is what pipe tobacco is supposed to smell like, in a way. I sometimes buy a pouch for old time's sake. No, it isn't the highest quality, but tons of it have been consumed over the years, especially by old boys from the era when pipe smoking was a very common practice and done almost everywhere. Smoking it all day long in the same pipe you used yesterday and the day before may seem a bit, uh, pedestrian to our more cultivated tastes, but that's the way it was done, and they seemed happy smoking it. As I remember, it's got to be FRESH--meaning quite moist from the pouch. A Cargo of Contentment in the Bowl of Any Pipe!
