So thanks to all of you, (and no that’s not sarcasm) I’ve decided to start carving my own pipes. I received a hobby block from P&C and got to work figuring out what I wanted to make. After tinkering, buying new tools (always a bonus of any project), and diving in, I’m really liking this new creative outlet. The smoke on it isn’t bad either. As someone who likes to collect things, I have a feeling this will get pretty expensive, LoL.
Anyway to set it up, I wanted to combine two of my vices, pipe smoking and beer drinking. I thought I would try a Tankard style Poker, and carve an old wooden beer tankard. For clarification, I do not have specialized tools to drill the holes precisely (not yet anyway) and I do not have or have access to a lathe (again, not yet anyway). This was done with a $20 whittling set I bought off the inter-webs and some dark cherry stain I had laying around from a cabinet touch-up job I did.
I would love some feedback and any tips to make this an even more enjoyable hobby of you all are so inclined. Thanks....whatdaya think? (I apologize if the pictures are out of order)
