Hey guys,

Picked up pipe smoking a few years ago when a friend gave me an old clay pipe. Things may have progressed since then...

I like collaboration and sharing knowledge. Seemed like this might be a good place to find some of that. On that note, I've been fortunate to have almost everyone in my immediate circle of buddies get into pipe smoking at roughly the same time. That's been helpful.

Personally, I love Lat blends (Pirate Kake, Penzance, etc) and I've REALLY liked the Lat-oriental blends I've tried (Squadron Leader...and I have some Presbyterian on deck). I can hang with VA's, but they definitely aren't my "go to"--there are a couple that I really like (3 Friars, MacBaren Golden Extra). I'm trying out Aro's...but I'm finding I'm a little picky with them.

That's pretty much it. I'm sure I'll see you guys around.

Cincinnati, Ohio--my favorite U.S. inland city.* Welcome.

* Winston Churchill also thought this. (Churchill. Me. You get the picture.)

Good evening mate from one of the board's Blighty contingent. Enjoy your stay!

Welcome to BoB. Lots of great information here, and good folks to ask questions of, or just visit with. Enjoy. :afro:

Welcome to BoB, brother!

Yes, this forum is all about collaboration & sharing of knowledge!

FYI, Mac Baren Golden Extra is a Burley forward blend, with some Virginia.

Junkyard Dawg: maybe that's it. 3 Friars is a VA/PER (right?) and Golden extra is a BUR/VA so neither are straight VA's. Well...to be fair the Gooden Extra was VERY well cellared--like 25 years or so (a sample from a generous buddy). That may have been part of it :)

Welcome aboard. VA isn't my thing either, straight up at the least, too citrusy for me in most cases

Welcome Kenny!

Smoke what you like, like what you smoke of course.
