Have noticed in old periodicals that in years past there has been a "new york pipe show" held in newark, nj. I see no mention anywhere of this event being upcoming in either winter, 2010, or any time in 2011. Anyone know what happened here? Has it been cancelled? Mucho gracious.

At the last one, which was last March, there was talk of the show being cancelled. Just a rumor, no confirmation yet.

I spoke directly with Russ Ouellette at Habana / Pipes & Cigars about the November show in Albany. He told me that they were 50/50 on whether the show will be held. He stated that due to the recent move of Habana & scheduling issues, the show might not happen until sometime in 2011 (Spring?).

Here is the original announcement: http://www.newyorkpipeclub.com/content.aspx?page_id=5&club_id=415823&item_id=12541

If I hear or see anything else, I'll post up.

Well, as President of the NY Club, let me say that while the NY Club wholly lends its support, the NY (Newark) Show is solely the production of Rich Esserman and Sam Barnett. In years past there were indeed four shows: March, June, Sept. and Dec. This year, 2010, unfortunately will only see one remaining show and that will be in Dec. The other was in March, which saw the most traffic a NY Show has seen in quite a few years so it was quite encouraging. Given the fact that there will only be one final show for 2010, my hope is that it will be a well attended event as was March.

Notification of the Dec. Show, including date, has not been officially made public by Rich and Sam but I have been assured that an announcement is forthcoming.

Going forward, as in 2011, you would have to inquire of Sam and Rich.

Hope to see you all in Dec.!

Thanks, gentlemen. New to the "organized" pipe scene. Lifetime smoker and collector. Never knew of the clubs and shows till this year. Thought I was the only sick ******* out there. Now receiving The Pipe Collector and Pipe and Tobaccos Magazine. Plan on making the Richmond party. Hoping if something happens here in my own backyard I'll get some heads-up in one of these publications. Looking forward to an opportunity to make some "pipe friends." For sure I'll follow up here, in Brothers of Briar as well before December. Again, thanks and good smoking.

Thanks for the invitation. I've circled the date on my mental calender. Exactly what that accomplishes only time will tell. Know how guys on your side of the river loathe Jersey? The wife's got ten thousand cousins in the Bronx. Nicest people in the world. But hard, hard, hard to get them to cross the Bridge for a visit. And forget about suggesting they buy a house over here in the land of lakes and trees! Sooner die, betray their country. So anyway, over time it's sortta become the same way with me in reverse. The City is a habit once broken that's hard to regain. Yeah, I'll consider driving to Richmond. but will I traverse the Holland Tunnel for a dinner with new smoky friends? Time will tell. But the invite is much appreciated.

Man, I dig that picture of your Band of Merry Men all gathered about, pipes in hand. Happy times!
