On the plus side, once it is repaired, He might get a nice silver banded pipe out of the deal. While repairs suck, they can be made to make the pipe prettier with the banding. I had a plain Jane Savinelli Second, I paid $20 for and had repaired a few years later, and the silver band really made it look a lot better than when I got it. I've got an older Edwards that has been repaired in a similar fashion, that Silver Band really sets the old, dark finish off.
