Now, now.

As long as someone else is on poop duty, I have belly pettin' and ear scratchin' for both. I ain't picky. Just can't own either. That's why I have friends and feign a social life--extended pets! :D

Just now finally got the connection with your screen name, Lou.

Duh . . .

The male we took in is one fine cat indeed. Lived outside for four years on his own & none the worse for wear (except one tiny ear nick, and I suspect the other cat got the worse of the encounter).

Gentle giant kitty. Mellow & affectionate.

But a terror to dogs. :lol!:

:face:
Yup! You figured it out! LOL!

Cool, Thanks Gravel,

Its a good looker, but I cant see where it says made in Norway, and if it was made in the 70's, that would make it Stanwell's Lillehammer line wouldnt it ???

Anybody????

Interesting conversation regarding Norwegian pipes. Don't own any but now I'll be on the lookout. Skaukatt (Lou) is a relative neighbor being a resident of Queens County and me being out in Suffolk County both here on Long Island.

Now Dusty you have a reason to come on East. You and I will mosie over to the subway Downtown to Florio's Restaurant for a smoke with the urban cowboys in New York City. Do ya think you can handle that pardner?

C'mon down, ya'll are welcome anytime!!! It would be my pleasure to have you join us for a smoke and some good eats! Come down anytime!

Lou

A subway ??? are you kidding Lipipe ? Ive seen alot of movies where people get robbed and shot in subways.
Thats where the gangs hang out aint it? and unlike Montana, I dont think a guy can pack a sidearm on his hip in public out east can ya?

I'd be freaked out , in a subway! LOL

I'd rather face down a mountain lion.

Which I have done by the way,, but at least I had a .45 aimed at her till she left

I'm 100% undiluted Norwegian so I have to chime in here. :p

The Lillehammer pipes are the only ones I know of. Being so close to Denmark perhaps they just leave pipemaking up to them?

I like both Skaukatts and Maine *****. 8)

No guns allowed in NYC except, who you are and who you know. Like most things in life, being connected matters. In an urban jungle you gotta just look tough and from your avatar photo I can assure you that you'll do OK. You would be surprised how many of us survive and even like living in the city. Not me of course, but then I escaped as a kid. My kids who were raised in "Leave it to Beaver's" neighborhood find the city unique and fascinating. They pay a fortune in rent for the opportunity to live in a shoe box. Go figure. Anyhow if you've never been here it is truly an experience not to be missed. This is a wonderful country because of the diversity of lifestyles we are fortunate to enjoy here. I'm sure my jaw will drop when I experience Montana, but you should not under estimate the range urban cowboys roam. In Manhattan you will see guys with guns riding horses. They all wear blue suits and write parking summonses.

Now Lipipe, not saying I am planning on heading East, But , if I did, thats one thing I would want to check out,,, the police horses shoe's. That's something that has always amazed me , because of the concusion and the fact that pavement is slick, so Im sure they use rubber shoes or borium for grip, and if they are wearin steel, then Im sure they would be wearing Impact absorber pads. but those things are all strange to me , because I cant sell them here.
Also, Ive researched horse riot gear, and thats CRAZY the stuff they have to protect a horse....almost like medevil armor...

and I am sure I would enjoy the sights, and the food ,as well as things I dont even know about. I'm pretty open minded when i travel.
basically I was just hackin on ya a bit there :D

But, "subways "??? LOL They dont portray them very well in movies and on TV. :D

Hey John: I knew you were just pullin' my chains brother. If you ever come this way I'll promise to contact the NYPD and see if you and I can't get a police stable tour. I am certain it would be a blast both ways for a city shoer (?probably the wrong term, but you get the point) to meet an authentic Montana cowboy shoer. New York Police mounts are absolutely magnificent animals. They don't work cattle, but they sure know how to work crowds and charm ladies. As far as the NY subway system is concerned, It's really an 8th wonder of the world. The number of millions of people moved 24/7 is incredible. Many of the lines were built at the turn of the century and are still in use. There are two new lines currently under construction right under the busy streets of Manhattan. We New Yorker's take them for granted but during transit strikes which do happen, there is mass chaos. A subway ride is all part of a New York City visit experience. When I was a kid a ride was 10 cents. As a college student I commuted each day for a 15 cent fare. Today, 40 years later a ride is $2.50

So do the Yaks.

One of each live here.

They keep the other four company :lol!:

Mrs. Yak is an inveterate stray/unwanted kitty rescuer.

(No cat house jokes, please).

:face:

^ Both can be enormous beasts. But nothing compared to an Israeli Garbage Cat. I friend of mine rescued one when he lived in Tel Aviv. It made Maine ***** and Norwegian Forest cats look like kittens.

Thanks Spud,,
Yeah, I'm on that one. It has a chunk missing out of the stem, so I'm not going to go too high on it as I will be wanting to get a new stem custom made for it if I win it.

If somebody else wants it more than me , well , thats OK,, there'll be more that show up..

It has a chunk missing out of the stem

I looked closely, and then went back a second time. Can't find the missing chunk to save my life.

Unsolicited advice, FWIW : finding a top grade example of a marque (especially one with limited production numbers), and in nice shape to boot, can be much tougher than finding a workaday grade example in average condition of a more common one. Here, I'm thinking makes like (old) BBBs (there seem to be 200 Best Makes for every Own Make Virgin) & Parkers (and even Petersons, Comoys & Barlings, from their popularity). The size and bowl i.d., IMHO, would make that one an ideal flake pipe. You might be waiting for the next Tabago bus longer than you anticipate.

Cheers & Regards

:face:

*snerk* Yak's the crazy, the wife is the cat lady. :p

Hey, you said no "cat house" jokes, so the Brother from Brothelville didn't chime in. 8) There's nothing quite like a big friendly cat to jump on your lap with zero conviction and look at you almost as a demand to say, "PET ME."

We have a mounted cop brigade here in Reno, but they only break 'em out when people inevitably riot and cause problems during our biker and classic car events. Reno tends to police the town like it's 1965 rather than 2012. It's really bizarre. This is the only town I've wandered around where the cops try and encourage people to stay home just because it makes their job easier. Here, everyone's a criminal. People on bikes. People walking with groceries. Jaywalkers. Anyone walking for whatever reason. A guy waiting for the bus (I kid you not, he almost got a loitering ticket on a bus bench until he showed his yearly bus pass). Yet you call them about a robbery or assault and it takes them six hours to show up.
