No sweat there, just wanted the clarification--off to the sanding and buffing as usual, then...

I grabbed a bottle last night at Pipes&Cigars in NY. My Upshalls get a little dull over time, hoping this keeps them shiny black for a little longer time.

Well I have been using Obsidian oil for the past few weeks and I really like it! As advertised it keeps my vulcanite stems looking great and for the record I'm not even using it after each smoke... More like every 2-3 smokes (laziness often trumps diligence in my home). I detect no taste after using. And I think it smells a little like anise which I find pleasant. I've tried a few other "stem polish" products and this is, without a doubt, the finest

I agree and have been using on my now multiplying vulcanite. I've been putting it on about every 10-14 days. I noticed some oxidation creeping into one of my James Upshalls so I hit it with some micromesh and the buffer. I most likely didn't get it all in the restoration on that one a few months ago.

Anybody check how it compares with using olive oil? That has been my standard for my vulcanite stems for years.

It gives a different and less greasy sheen than olive oil. It polishes off to a nice finish, by my experience the olive oil tends to build-up and gives a "too shiny" look.

Got a free bottle of the Obsidian Stem Oil with my recent Ferndowns - Pipes2Smoke may become my new favorite etailer!!!. Tried it on the new pipes plus a couple of older ones and so far I like what I am seeing. Time will tell.
