It was Thursday, and I was having a bad day. I had some errands to run downtown and it took me 30 minutes to find a place to park. On top of that, I had to walk a significant distance from my hard fought parking space through cold temperatures. That normally wouldn't have been a big deal, but I was beginning to feel feverish and I'm sure that little jaunt did me no good. Business concluded, I began to feel worse and worse as I drove home. I don't get sick very often. Maybe once every other year, but when I do, I really do.
The timing was inconvenient. I had loads of work to catch up on, and the wife and I had plans for my birthday on Sunday. Since I had a suspicion these symptoms were the start of something big, I stopped by the store and stocked up on supplies to make a week's worth of chicken noodle soup. I had just enough wellness left to make the soup and share it with my colleagues at Blue Room before passing out on the couch.
From Thursday afternoon on things were pretty miserable. But one thing happened that was a bit odd: packages kept multiplying on the counter. Between naps it seemed like the pile kept getting larger. I didn't think a whole lot of it, for whatever reason, but on Friday I finally decided to check things out. I was completely surprised that all of the packages were addressed to me! While my illness could not have been worse timed, your bombing could not have been better timed! Not only did it feel like a bombardment of get well wishes, but birthday wishes as well. Your generosity and kindness has been a wonderful respite during this uncomfortable time.
I figured I'd hop on here to give you all my thanks. I'll do a full recap of the damage as soon as I am feeling up to it.
Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart. It is an amazing gesture of good will with impeccable timing.
