Looking to explore the peterson line. Any suggestions or reviews?

3P and University are on my list for sure.

Irish Flake, though a stout blend, is definitely one worth sampling.

Yor can't go wrong with 3P or University Flake. I smoke a lot of University. I have tried almost all of the Peterson blends and found they agree with me well. I always have a few on hand. De Luxe Mixture is my goto aromatic as the alpha female tolerates it well. As Muddler said, Irish Flake is worth a try. I believe it will cure hangovers and any other ailments you might have or at least make you forget about them for awhile. I enjoy it on those mornings I can't seem to get my eyes open. Anyway, I don't think you can go wrong with the Peterson offerings, give them a try.

University Flake is fantastic......
Irish Oak comes in second.......
Sherlock Holmes comes in third!!!!

3P's and special reserve are really good too!
Have smoked these blends quite young and they have alot of merit. Have since send these to the cellar..... will let you know in 5 to 10 years!!!!

Bottom line..... Peterson make good stuff!

You have to wittle 3P's into little flakes so you can smoke it right? what techniques do you gents use?

I make thin narrow slices long ways down the plug with my knife and break it apart a bit. Almost like whittling a piece of wood. I let it dry a few minutes then load.

chevy,

That's very interesting. I've never had tobacco like that.

What does it taste like to you?

Irish Flake is, IMHO, a masterpiece of HO blending. I love the deep tobacco taste as well as its strength. In Feb. I brought my tin count up to 100.

University Flake would be better with only a faint echo of the berry topping. I like it as it is but I think it could be better.

Irish Flake is one of my absolute faves, and while I have a decent amount of it cellared, I don't have near as much as alfredo. ;)
I think IF just tastes like tobacco should. It's rich and full-bodied, and packs, lights and smokes with little fuss.

So far I 've only tried the Sunset Breeze, you know, the girlie stuff.

pipesandcigars.com has a Peterson tin sampler...I got it....it will give you many tins o try out. Notsure how many you want to try...Just an idea.

The only Peterson baccie that I have in my cellar is an unopened tin of Connoisseurs Choice that I got over a year ago. I have just a few aros and they're way back of my rotation schedule, so I don't know when I'll get around to sampling this one. Read some good reviews about it though.

University Flake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! brilliant, cellaring it like a mad man here!!!
In general all their stuff is good!!!!!

I just separate the block a layer at a time and shred the "flakes" by hand mix them up on a small plate and gravity feed into my pipe. Works for me.....

University Flake and Irish Flake are also high on my list.

I hacve to say Old Dublin is really nice. University is top of my list. The perdect plug I found smooth but boring. Mick Mcquaid plug is better but hard to get. Have you tried Artisans blend or consumate gentlemen? they are really good and smooth.

Hey there. My faves are, in no particular order:

Irish Oak (Va/Per)
University Flake (Burley and Va.)
Old Dublin (Medium English)

Been wanting to try 3P's but haven't gotten around to ordering yet....

I think these are actually Ashton blends, not Peterson...
