I know. That one drives me up the wall. And since the Interwebz became an obligatory part of the masses' everyday life (what with Facebag, and all), illiteracy has become epidemic.

Anyhow, the ad in the OP appeared in the 1933, February issue of Popular Science. It doesn't surprise me that such a vicious implement was invented by a German of that era, at a time when Hitler and his co-murderers were on the rise. :x
