I think of him every time I smoke this pipe:

I was surprised that he would part with this pipe,
(not just because it's beautiful, but it was a SHPC POY)
but sadly it was shortly after that he passed.

Hermit. I'm convinced he knew he was done.
He gifted hard and fast , even by his standards, and then he passed on.

I was chit charting in pm with a guy I gifted and another guy I was feeling out for gifting when grief over losing him hit me again.
Ironically enough one of the gents said something to the effect of 'I hope the new generation can carry the spirit of the old'.. Referring to himself. That's all I'm trying to do to. Lol.
I have much respect for Carlos and Tony F. Those dudes along with TJ and Ken taught me alot about man love and brotherhood.
I get so tickled when the Noobs act like I'm somebody. ****. Lol. I'm a punk kid standing on the shoulders of giants. And that's what Ken was, a giant among men.. Not just pipers, but mankind in general.
I imagine him whispering to Mrs Collins. " this to PB, this to hermit, this to slow puffs..........". Right up to the end he was taking care of his misfit kids.

Can't claim to know what any of this was like way-back-when, but I feel something special here.

I have a pipe given to me by a friend, given to her by another friend who passed. The fact I got it meant something huge. I cherish that pipe, and it's one of my favorites.

Interesting culture this pipe stuff, and the people... even over the Internet... goes beyond the screen.

I think the spirit is continuing well. Thanks to those doing their best to make that happen... 8)

I enjoy reading his old posts when they come around.

I was cruising old post and have seen some of his post and the conversations. I would have been honord to have known him. Something else I noticed, alot has changed with just a short time. The greetings, the attitude of the conversations, seemed to be more like family and friends getting together, reading you can feel a warmth, more than aquaintences on the net.

Ken,,,DAD,,cellar baron,,,

I would have loved to bought back the pipe I santa'd him, and tried but it got sold in a package deal, I know he smoked it anyway. I still need to grab some of his favorite Peretti Somerset Slices,,he swore they're the best. He sent a note with one of the Ephemeris magazines he loaned me. Basically told me to quit dinking around with crap tobacco and smoke quality stuff. The chunk of Coniston Cut Plug he included put some hair on my chest, but I guess it was "quality" hair.

That's not exactly the way it went.
He sold it through Pipestud and I was
determined to have it. ;)

I miss Ken too. He was the patriarch of the place. I particularly admired his years of sobriety - he was a man amongst men.

...especially toward the end of the last page, saying "Why stop? You guys all get it."... kind of puts reality to mortality--he seemed like one hell of a guy. :( I just made myself sad.

Crap.
