Received a gift

Wow. I sent a friend a couple tins of a tobacco I knew he was looking for.  No big deal; I had several in the cellar and was happy to pass some along.  A few weeks later I received a mystery gift box from said friend. Upon opening it I was surprised to see that it contained a pipe. Barely visible through the wrapping was a white dot. "Nah!" I thought. Then I looked at the stamping on the bottom. Sure enough. It's a beautiful Tanshell saddle bit billiard. Certainly a gift that far outweighs the small gesture I made.  As I said out the outset, "Wow."

You're right. A while back I received a very nice Peterson from a member here who no longer smokes; he read about my penchant for them and sent one along to me.  Actually two: a nice bent pot and another, obviously a Peterson "second" the name of which I can't recall.  It's in the truck and it's 32 degrees here right now so you'll have to trust me on this, but it's a nice little 1/2 bent with a p-lip which I love.  Generous indeed.

Actually I don't think I ever publically acknowledged that gift.  Here they are (the pot is shown pre-band polishing), and if you're still here, you know who you are.  Thanks...

Idlefellow, regarding the photos of the Petes, I don't know whether it was intentional or not, but the way you've got them positioned, with the sun hitting the bark of the branch just so it it looks as if a tiny wisp of smoke is coming out of each of their bowls!  Extraordinary!!
