Regarding BoB and other forums.

Ok... NOW I want to say something..

To be 100% clear, other than the $42,673,342.97 I make weekly off of BoB nobody makes a dime here. (yes that is a joke, I don't make a dime either) Actually the creator of the site has lost at least a grand paying for registrations, and what not.


Someone asked if I meant an earlier post tongue in cheek... I'm not totally sure what was implied by that.. Guy wants to make a new forum I say have a go at it, good luck, etc. We've had a good dozen announced here in the past 4-5 years. To the best of my knowledge they all died pretty quick. It's hard work running one of these things, finding good people to mod, keeping abreast of all the little fires before they become forest fires, etc.. The BoB team do this because we love the site, the hobby, the people.. I wouldn't put up with the crap for money, anyone that would probably deserves it.

What PB said. In my experience, nobody's had much luck founding boards on the principle of "Just like [BOARD X], only better." And that goes for all themed-interest boards, not just the world o'pipes. The ones that thrive have a definite mission in either topic or moderation style. There's room for many, and room for more if they have an audience, and more power to 'em.

I'm a member of as many places as I want to be; it just happens to be one.

Nah, they'd be an easy emulation, now Puros Bran would be difficult. Constantly being in the Napoleon attitude would be hell. ---and now I am banished lol.

Actually the mods here do a great job on this forum and I appreciate your tireless and thankless efforts. Rob good luck in the new forum, just don't neglect us too much over here on BoB.

...I'll second what Rob has said regarding the PSC forum...yes, there are plenty of forums out there and while I participate in three myself, it is simply a matter of choice...

Hopefully, anyone and everybody will be welcome at any forum/site...afterall, the majority of pipe smokers I know have always been rather inclusionary, not exclusionary.

I'll second what Peter said in another thread: Everyone here is welcome on PSC, that's for sure.

Of course I've grown used to the regular Abuse I receive here, so it's going to take a while to truly settle in over there. 8)

Very nice forum. I would join, but only have time for one. Even here I seldom post, and rarely (if ever) even look at the off topic forums of BOB. Pipe forums stimulate the development of the hobby and I hope that the Pipe Smokers Cubby becomes very active and successful.
