Wow...suddenly today I remembered Boar's Head, one of the Tavern Tobacco Co. blends created by Knoxville Cigar Co. in conjunction with Samuel Gawith. I've had a jar of it sitting around since the old KCC days, and it's better than ever. Reminds me of the old FVF made with Zimbabwean leaf. It's deep, dark, naturally sweet, and loaded with toasted caramel flavors. I don't get most of the reviews of Boar's Head on TR.com, but...well, nothing new there.

Too bad KCC went south, and all the Tavern Tobaccos went with it. Another great one was McCraigan's Flake. (See my "freevito" review here.)

You're gonna make me get into my stash, aren't ya! And don't forget "Thunder Road". There's another of their great Virginia blends. Or "Marrakesh Cafe", that one-of-a-kind oriental flake. I only have a few tins left of MC and "Rose of Zanzibar". If there is a lament to be sung, Tavern Tobacco is well deserving. I know some have mourned the loss of "Laurel Flake" for years now. But my stash, good as it is, has none of that last blend.

Oh jeez...I forgot all about Laurel Flake, Carlos. Alas, I never got around to buying poundage of that superb VaPer before it went extinct, or I'd be boxing up a slab of it for you right now. There was nothing quite like it.

Those were some wondrous blends indeed.

This post got my attention. I've got three tins of Thunder Road in stock, think I'll crack one this weekend.
